wtnhunt
Got an old bow that belonged to my stepfather that I would like to shoot, possibly try to get out and kill a deer with this fall if I can find a string and some arrows for it and get a lot of practice in with it before next fall. Bow is a 28 inch 45# model Ben Pearson bph h90 in pretty good shape, guessing it is probably about as old as I am. Have a half dozen broadhead tipped wood hunting arrows, no clue what they weigh or anything else about those arrows, but probably best I find some more modern replacement arrows to practice with. Any suggestions?
hutchies
GT traditionals are as close as you will come to getting traditional arrows cheap. They are carbon painted to look like wood arrows.
stcif
I shoot the Carbon Express Heritage arrows. I shoot the 150's and they are 10 gpi. They are tough, and look like wooden arrows. I've had a couple people in my league ask me if I was shooting wooden arrows. I have yet to break one. Much more durable than what I used to shoot. JimPic
I'd go with the CX Heritage 150's...good weight, very durable and very consistant in spine and weight. Leave full length and tune from there. You might have to load up the front either with a heavier point weight or brass inserts to weaken them up For aluminum,a 1916,2114,or a 2016 would be good choices As for the string...I believe the H90 was a 58". You'll need a 58" AMO string or a 54" actual length string. Dacron only, B50 or B500 Edited March 1, 2010 by JimPic
Diamond Archer 01
Another vote for the carbon express heritage arrows!!!
wtnhunt
Thanks guys. Looked at ebay at both the gold tips and the carbon express, look pretty comparable in price. Think I saw 58 somewhere on the bow Jim, will have to do a little checking on the string.

HoytHunter5293
i use cedar arrows from cabelas my self i would get the 45 - 50 pound ones if i was u if u want to go that way this is true but being new a recurve arrows are gonna get broke lol cedars are kinda expensive i think... my vote is for the carbon express just because they are probably gonna take more of a beating than a real cedar arrow..
