A little help with selling price please

Recommended Posts

If I had the cash we would be talking more my price. ;)

Go to www.gunbroker.com. Look for that same rifle but only take into account the rifles with bids on them. The prices will be all over the map but the rifles with bids will give you a better line to go off of. I typically bookmark the rifles I want to watch, see what it sells for, and then you have somewhere to start.

Locally I can find those from $350 - $450. I picked up that same rifle a few years back for $300 but I also bought a shotgun off of the guy. I later sold it for $375.00 and could have likely held out for $400.

Wal mart here used to sell adl's around the $400 range new not all that long back. Think depending on what you need out of it I would probably start at $300 and adjust your asking price up or down depending on the condition and how bad you need or want to sell it.

hmmm...I'm not sure now how much to sell it for

Even with the gun in "as new" or perfect condition you will not be able to expect to get the new retail price out of it, not unless you are some kind of a great salesman. Just a suggestion, but you might consider how you rate the gun and figure a percentage number, like say 90% percent for excellent condition and figure that times what you gave for the gun. Might give you a good starting point.

Thats a good point I would say the gun is at 90% of new condition so I guess I will start in that area

The 710 isnt a very good rifle compared to the 700, you are correct.

The 710 flopped (for the most part) and was then "upgraded" to the 770. Same gun, different look. If you just looking for a rifle to kill a deer/ elk/ moose, etc. they are fine but dont expect quality when you buy one.

As far as the scope, on an individual basis you can sale a scoped gun and do ok. Take that to a gun show and you might as well pull the glass off. Most people dont recognize the scope unless its a high end scope.

Yep, have always heard that unless it is high end glass the scope really does not increase the value of a used gun. It might help sell the gun for a fair price though.
