wtnhunt
Wife and daughter are using a remington 870 youth 20 gauge. Best patterns with their gun and the tru glo gobbler stopper choke they are using were the 3 inch #5 remington nitro's.
Rhino
Scott...haven't personally done any testing with a 20 ga. Nitro has come come out with a couple of new 20 ga. 3" mag. loads with some impressive results using a Rhino .575 turkey choke. They tested the loads with a Charles Daly, Mossberg 500, and a Beretta 3901. With a 4x5x6 load the number of shot in a 10" circle at 40 yards ranged from 116 to 143 pellets. With their 4x5x7 load the number of shot in a 10" circle at 40 yards ranged from 156 to 196 pellets. That's all according to their web site. Both loads are hevi-shot loads. EKYhunter
The above is right on. Go with the Rhino/Nitro or Indian Creek/Nitro. Check out www.oldgobbler.com There's an entire section devoted to the 20 gauges and making them work. Lots of good info there.

michiganbowbender
I have the 870 Remington Express 20 gauge, Puregold .550 choke tube and Red Dot scope shooting 3" Envirometal Nitros in straight 7's. 40 yard 10" circle pellet count is over 225. Took a bird last spring at a distance I badly misjudged, but was closer to 50 yards + than 40. The Environmetal Nitro shells aren't cheap, so I won't kid you about that. But I was so pleased in the performance that I sold the Rem 12 gauge, Rhino tube and Nitro H378 shells. The little 20 is a shear pleasure carrying, especially while running and gunning.
