Yes they are all nuts... I wouldn't quite put turkeys in the same box as an elk or a deer. It is robbery with a pen instead of a gun to say the least. Missouri used to be a reasonable state to hunt. Ohiobucks
It's not really a crime if you are giving them the $$$ voluntarily. Just don't go there to hunt turkeys, easy as that.
Rhino
That's been the trend with most state's attitudes toward non-residents. A 7 day permit to turkey hunt for a NR here is $145. A full season license is $320. We do have a lengthy 51 day spring season though compared to Missouri that's 21 days and 1 more bird in the season bag limit too. Depends on the person......I know a few guys that would much rather hunt turkeys than deer.......Not me but some feel that way It is robbery with a pen instead of a gun to say the least. Missouri used to be a reasonable state to hunt. I think it still is....No draws just a simple otc purchase. Tons of public land. I think our deer tags are crazy cheep for nr in comparison to other states. But ohiobucks is right in the grand scheme of things....

Tominator
With out of state hunters refusing to pay that much for a tag. Adam Smith would be so proud of you. BTW--I agree. No way I'm spending $190 to hunt a bird out of state. It would appear that the capacity for certain Americans to spend extraordinary amounts of discretionary income on seemingly unneccessary events is limitless; one only needs to look at the cost of taking the family to a pro sporting event, but "they" will keep getting their tag price and salary so long as there is a viable population willing to part with that money. --just sayin.... wtnhunt
BTW--I agree. No way I'm spending $190 to hunt a bird out of state. Me neither. Think TN non resident fees went up here a few years back as well Mike.
Rhino
No way I'm spending $190 to hunt a bird out of state. I sure wouldn't to hunt public land there. I would to hunt a good size tract of private land since MO is a 2 bird bag limit state. I wouldn't pay it for a 1 bird bag limit though. 2 years ago I was up there hunting public land and the only morning I heard any amount of gobbling I was set up to hunt them right off the roost with no other hunters around...at first anyway. About 15 minutes or so from the time the birds touched down I had hunters all around me, except between me and the birds. I felt like I was sitting inside the gauntlet! The other hunters moving in to my left, right, and behind me probably had a lot to do with the birds suddenly moving away from me too. I felt real uneasy inside their line of fire and who knows how itchy any one of their trigger fingers might be seeing the least bit of movement. I got up and walked away with hunters calling to give away their locations as I moved out. Felt like the ball bouncing around in a pinball machine trying to leave. That was on a Friday morning. Went home that afternoon.
