hello fellow IL shed hunter, I haven't had a chance to go yet but i found a matching 8pt set last year on Feb. 26th that scored in the mid 150's. I will be going out to the farm this saturday and that's the 26th so maybe i might have some luck!

Re: Illinois shed hunters

I went out yesterday and found two fresh sheds. One was 3pt with some mass and the other 4pt from a 3.5 year old. I saw this deer the night before with my spotter scope and he had bolth sides. I looked for 2 hours for the other side but no luck. I found it at a fence crossing and it didn't look ready to come off so I think think he is still caring the other side. This is the earliest I have ever found a fresh shed. I usualy find them the first week in march.I

Re: Illinois shed hunters

I have been out two times this year, and havent found anything yet. I think I am the worlds worst shed hunter in 3 years of looking if only found one shed, and found another rack of a deer that was hit on the road but made it down to the timber. Any good places to look??

Re: Illinois shed hunters

I went out friday and sunday and found two very nice 4 point sheds. bolth very heavy. I would go out as soon as you can before the snow melts and find out were they are hanging out. I find mine any were between beds and feeding areas. Were exactly are you from I live in coal city. Lots of strip mines here and they stare droping in dec and I have found them all through april.
