dartonman
I applied on time for my turkey tags. One for me, one for my son Hunter. In Illinois, they do a drawing, and you can usually only get a 5 day stretch on your tag or "season"...which is really dumb in my opinion. Well, to make a long story shorter, I received a tag, and my son got his denied. This is really irritating me., well...he will be with me when the bird goes down.....al
Bowtech_archer07
That stinks Al. I applied for 2nd season as my first choice and so did my dad and we sent them off on the same day and he got it and I didn't. I got 3rd season though so i've got a tag but I know what you're talking about. I don't know if there are that many more people turkey hunting here in IL or what, but it's definitely irritating. dartonman
Man...ohh man....I know for a fact that our buddy Dan (layingonthesmackdown) is in "limbo" with DNR this year as well. I feel that if its private property, not a "specialty zone area" such as a park would be, that you should hunt the whole 5 week season...but nope, not in Illinois......al
Bowtech_archer07
That would make sense but like you said this is the great state of IL and our gov't always knows what's best!! LOL *vomits*
hoss
i know the dates may not match . but can you buy an over the counter youth permit for hem. just a thought . that way he can have a chance to take a bird also.

dartonman
He is 16, so they wont sell him a youth tag...their new rules are up to age "15" unbeleivable.al
layin on the smackdown
That sucks Al...I know what you are talking about...Somehow my fiance and i both drew 2nd season tags for Ogle county - i have no idea how that miracle happened, but it did...I got denied for my Marion County tag, and am still waiting to see if i draw a Jo Davies County tag...Im in the random daily drawings for that county, but who knows how that is going to pan out... I think the DNR needs to do some research and figure out the harvest success rate, and put some numbers together that will justify selling more tags per county. Nut
I really think that all Wildlife agencies should be encouraging the youth to be and stay hunters. Denying a 16 year old a tag is not good in my book. Bring him to Ohio and he can hunt as a youth. Plus he will only pay same price as a resident. Mach1
My brother, dad, and I didn't have any problems with our tags. All three of us got our first choices for the first tags we applied for and the second tags we applied for. My brother has 2nd and 4th and my dad and I both have 3rd and 4th. They are both going to apply for a third tag for 5th season as our county still had permits left.
dartonman
Mach1...for some odd reason, Ogle county was the hot county of the year, as there are no tags available....unbeleivable.........al

Mach1
Mach1...for some odd reason, Ogle county was the hot county of the year, as there are no tags available....unbeleivable.........al You could go over to Jo Daviess County...after the 2/9/10 drawing there were 286 left for 4th season and 433 left for 5th. After looking at the available permits left, there's still a lot of permits available in a lot of counties. I wonder if those counties are alotted a bunch more tags than others and why? I'm so mad! holy cow,, at least you get that much. up here even if i get my app in late and miss the application deadline.. no refunds.... unless the hunt is cancled after the draw... then they still try to put you in for the next year on it rather then refund you.. bowin_in_illinois
...not quite sure how they go about deciding all that...but it sure doesn't make any sense. I had a buddy put in for 3rd season as first choice (and he applied late) and another buddy put in for 1st season and get second, and he applied the first day you could apply. What sense does this make?
