Strut10
Just getting around to uploading some of my last batch of pics (I had about 2800 images from 2 cameras). When's the last time you saw a spotted fawn in February??
Wobbly_Alaska
i take it that is just late to shed???? or a late born? ( don't have deer here)
redkneck
Can't say I've ever seen anything like that Don. Even more surprising you're seeing it up there. I'd figure a thick winter coat would have long replaced those spots.
Diamond Archer 01
Cool pic!!
camoman1
Can't say I've ever seen anything like that Don. Even more surprising you're seeing it up there. I'd figure a thick winter coat would have long replaced those spots. I was thinking the same about the winter coat. That is odd.

Tominator
I've seen 1 with spots running down its back in December, but never in February. Pretty neat. I'd say it was probably a late drop?
Tom2008
That deer dosent have a tail either! How do you figure? lol I can see a tail. Very strange Don for sure. Kels and I had encounters with twins with all white spots in November last season.

wtnhunt
Never seen that here before Don. With John in thinking the winter coat should have come in and the spots been gone.
billkay
Maybe it's not spots at all but a young piebald deer?
Strut10
Maybe it's not spots at all but a young piebald deer? Nope. Those are spots. Notice the difference in coat color where the spots are as opposed to where they're not. The deer, for some reason, never entirely shed its summer coat. RangerClay
A number of years ago, here in NY they did a study on road killed does to see how far along they were and when they were inceminated. They found does that were bred as early as mid september and as late as February. With the (normally) mild winters you PA. folk have I could see more late breeding going on. Plus being that young, she just might come into her first heat about now. Very cool picture Don.
