mallard_drake85
I just ordered my firearm deer tags and decided to look into the current cost of the rest of the tags and licenses I'll need for the season: hunting license, fishing license, trapping license, fur buyers license, all the stamps, archery tags, firearm tags, archery turkey tag, etc....this is going to run me over $200 dollars this year! What a crock! We've had crooks for governors and too many things to list in a public forum...I knew prices would increase, but this much? Any of yall's states raised prices this year on tags and licenses? mallard_drake85
Mach1
It was announced a couple months ago that prices were going to increase and the new prices were given, so it should come as no surprise.
Orion_70
Wow, that's a little steep. I bought a Lifetime License in La. when they first came out years ago, $300.. havent' had to buy anything since when I go back to hunt. I think my Fl. licenses run me around $80 a yr. Wobbly_Alaska
i know they are working on it here too... but no #'s in site yet... Ak is still cheap for a residnet hunter.. my license /hunt/fish/trap is 64.00 and harvest tags for the most part are free but there is a push to bring Ak in line with most western states. and non res fees as well.. Texan_Til_I_Die
A resident combination hunting and fishing license with all of the state stamps in Texas is $68. There is also a reduced rate for kids or seniors and active duty military are free.
SchuLace
Small game, fishing and furbearer is around $50 here in SD. Add on $45 for 2 deer, $45 for 2 antelope and $25 for 2 spring turkeys and $25 for 2 fall turkeys and it really adds up. That is just resident firearms prices too. I am not sure what the archery prices are.
layin on the smackdown
What was the majoy increase? I knew they were going to increase the cost of licenses and certain deer permits, but it was never said of what was going to be increased...Did the archery combo tags get bumped too? Use to be able to get an either sex and an antlerless tag for $26.50 (resident)....and all other tags were like $15.00 a piece....got any details? This is not a good stand point for the DNR in terms of herd management...The increased price for tags is going to really play a roll in how many does get harvested....I know that instead of shooting 4-6 does a season, i will significantly reduce that number depending on the cost of tags...If 50% of the archers in IL do that, well, you do the math... mallard_drake85
I knew prices would increase, but when I seen that I'd be paying over $40 for firearm deer tags I was surprised! And now the state stamp has increased to the same price as the federal waterfowl stamp...this is just going to increase the amount of poachers out there and thats a crying shame! Very true. My brother and I consistantly take around 10 deer (mostly does) total during a season (and total with all hunters on the farm nearly 30 deer a year on several thousand acres)...and with prices as extreme as they are, we will have to cut back on these harvest numbers. And that's a shame because we're just now starting to see a balance in our buck:doe ratio on the farms we manage. As a hardcore hunter and outdoorsman, these prices will not prevent me from heading to the field, but you can bet I'll be more conscious about what I harvest! Mach1
For me this year: hunting license - 12.50 habitat stamp - 5.50 state waterfowl - 15.50 federal waterfowl - 15.50 archery combo - 26.00 fall archery turkey - 5.50 firearm combo - 42.50 muzzleloader only - 25.00 spring turkey - 15.00 x2 total - $178.00 That gives me the opportunity to harvest 5 deer, 3 turkeys, a bunch of waterfowl, and basically as much small game as I'd like. I look at it this way, people will pay quite a bit for a ticket to go watch a professional sports game that lasts maybe 3 hours or a NASCAR race and not complain about the money they spent. I've done both and continue to do so. Comparitively, the money I spend for licenses & tags is a SMALL price to pay for the amount of time you can spend outdoors with friends & family, enjoy myself, bring home some meat for the freezer, and maybe even bring home a trophy animal.
