Talk about a rough last week! Wow.. I had the biopsy on Wednesday. I had to be there at 8:00 (couldn’t eat or drink after midnight). They didn’t do the biopsy until 11:00a.m. I then had to lay on my back and not move for 4 hours. They did mildly sedate me so I was drifting in and out while watching TV. The 4 hours didn’t seem horrible except to my wife. I’ve been on full restriction until today, couldn’t lift anything over 10lbs and no bending over. Talk about feeling worthless. I couldn’t do anything around the house all week and just sat on the couch. The pain wasn’t horrible but they did do 4 samples so it hurt. I was able to use Tylenol to keep the pain down.

I took off from Wednesday/ Thursday and was already off Friday. The doctor called on Friday with the results. I’m grossly obese. Not on the outside, on the inside. I only weigh about 206 and I’m stocky anyway but apparently people can carry fat differently. I apparently put it in odd places. The fat is attacking my liver (didn’t know that could even happen). The amount of fat deposit I have is equivalent to drinking hard liquor every day. Good thing I don’t drink at all. As of right now there is no damage but I have to drop my weight to between 180 and 185 in the next year and keep it off to avoid damage. If I don’t they want to put me on meds to drop the weight. So it was pretty good news. I haven’t been a hardcore gym rat in about 4 years (that’s when the weight came on). Looks like I get to start lifting and running again. I’m actually kind of happy about that. Its all good very good news as long as I can strip this weight off.

Monday I flew to New Orleans with a guy from the office. I did eat my fill of oysters, catfish, shrimp, and gumbo while I was down there. I figured if I needed start fasting and drop the weight I might as well go out with a bang before I get started. And how can anyone go to gumbo and seafood country and fast?! We took a short tour of the French Quarter too.

We had to go to the Shell Refinery up the coast closer to Baton Rouge. Yesterday was fast and furious. Started at 5:00 with breakfast and a drive to the refinery. Worked there, drove back to catch the plane, unscheduled layover in Dallas, finally in Tulsa at just before 9:00, hour drive home, and I fell into my bed at 10:30 It made for a long/ short trip. I’m tired today but here…
