texastrophies
Yea, I figured with the money up front the odds would be better, but when they cut the tags as much as they did, probably just evened things out. Oh well, It will give me money to cover elk, deer & lopes.

CB really? many states refund you if not drawn? ours you make a donation to every year... with 7 of age hunters in the house... it gets spendy each fall to put in for resident draws

The $1610 is the refundable part.
AJ
Woo Hoo! I drew off range oryx for December. I get all month to hunt them. Now, I have to wait till December.

AJ
Nope, I passed on deer season last year. I went for a day and a half on my elk hunt. I still was not in good enough shape to be able to get a critter out of the mountains. All I could do is road hunt, so I came home. I am not a road hunter. But I have started prepping for this year. I will be ready...as long as a car does not pull out in front of me again. :jaw: This is what I ended up with when I went up against a Toyota: At least the oryx are reasonable close to me. I can be in the places I want to hunt within 1.5-3 hour drive. Around here, that is close, so I can do some scouting and be prepped. The odds for my tag were ~5-6% chance of drawing for the past 4 years. So, I am stoked! Hey Leo, I may indeed take the Wbby. I'd like to take my muzzleloader and I can stretch that out to 300 yards. If I can't get them in that close, I will take either the 338 Win Mag or the 300 Wby Mag. Edited March 14, 2010 by AJ
colorado bob
Long time since I've seen you here AJ. Conglads on the oryx tag. I think the off range is a little more challenging of a hunt. Good luck-----they are a great trophy & they very good eatin too. Sorry to see that X-ray. Looks like a long rehap. You still have an invitation to my elk camp if your interested.
