redkneck
Could be as simple as a fuse, or as bad as a timing chain. Did you pull a plug wire to see if it's firing? Edited March 11, 2010 by redkneck
MUDRUNNER
Fuel injector or timing issue would be my best guess if it's not the fuel pump. Let me know whenever you find out...my Chevy is a '98 too.
wtnhunt
Had a problem once with a 92 that did the same thing, ended up being a fuse. Think John nailed it.
Ravin R10 man
ok It was moisture in the distributor cap..it shorted out the cap and rotor.
redkneck
Nice when things work out cheaper than you're fearing it might.
Shaun_300
ok It was moisture in the distributor cap..it shorted out the cap and rotor. Yup, I was gonna guess that. Very common problem with those engines, and the Vortec 4.3's too. Sometimes the ignition coil goes too, but 90% of the time it's the cap and rotor. Wobbly_Alaska
had an 88 surburban... burnt the post off the cap to the rotor... 1/2 way between Anchorage and Fairbanks... 200 miles from anywhere.... found an OLD penny trimmed it with a pair of tin snips to sit on top of the rotor cap and gave me enough reach to spark to the cap... made it the final leg to home... cap was kinda soft in the center but she ran the entire way.... gave new meaning, find a penny and the rest of the day would go good for you... as put by my grandmother..
