hungry hunter
OK here's a valuable lesson that I learned of the differnce between synthetic and real powder. If you can find the real stuff, buy alot of it. I changed my scope on my T/C black diamond stainless steel barrel that was shot only once during Ml season, after reloading it I did not remove the charge until two days ago. I could not believe the pitting and corrosion that the synthetic powder caused. Got lucky and was able to polish up the breech plug. One mistake and lesson learned. Won't make that mistake again!! AJ
Sounds like a typical Pyrodex story. BH209 does not do that, but not all guns shoot it.
Shaun_300
Man that sucks, at least you got it cleaned out though! Sounds like a typical Pyrodex story. BH209 does not do that, but not all guns shoot it. AJ! Nice to see you around man, hope all is well with you!

Buzz
Here's a second vote for Blackhorn. Due to circumstances beyoun my control my MZ sat after having been shot almost a week. One wet swab and two or three dry ones cleaned it. That coupled with being able to shoot shot after shot at the range with no cleaning in between, it really has made MZ'ing a lot less work and a lot more fun for me. bbgatech
I've been getting great groups from Hodgen's triple 7 pellets and clean up is easy.

FrontierGander
One shot or not, black powder and the subs will hurt your barrel. Even with blackhorn209 its a good idea to run a few dry patches down the bore when you get home to cut back the black soot thats inside the bore. That can trap moisture and cause rust to form. dbHunterNY
yea i started getting problems with rust on my ProHunter. I shoot 777 pellets and right now 150gr of them. They clean up very very easy, but they are pretty dirty. I now just get that rust and moisture off and out of your gun and then I lightly coat it all down with T/C bore butter. It seems to stop the rusting so that's what I'm doing now. Thought about switching to Blackhorn 209, but I think I'm supposed to modify the breech plug. I'm not too thrilled about that, so I haven't looked into it further.
FrontierGander
you dont have to mod your breech plug, use cci 209m or federal 209a primers.
