Who's ice is all gone? The Ottawa River is partially open where we fish, where the current channel is where the Madawaska River flows into it, across to the Quebec side and down under the train bridge towards Fitzroy Harbour. Golden Lake is still frozen stiff, Ice usually goes off the lake mid-april there.

The St. Lawrence is pretty much wide open. The icebreaker/buoy tender doesn't usually start putting the buoys out until late March or early April, but they could almost put them in right now if they could get here from Lake Erie. The Welland Canal doesn't open up for another week or more to let the ice breaker get here from there.

The St. Lawrence is also pretty low right now by comparison to what its water level usually is at this time of year. There's just no snow melting to replenish the depleting water levels. Unless we get a really wet spring and summer, the Great Lakes Basin and St. Lawrence will likely see record low water levels this year. A few years ago the water levels were low here and the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority had to start restricting commercial shipping with excessive drafts as they were bottoming in sporadic areas throughout the river.

New experience for me, it looked like there was no ice. I have some pictures of the lake I'll post.
