buckee
I'm still trying to figure it out too. I bought a remote control and mic for my camera, and have been experimenting with that.
wtnhunt
From a stand a camera arm is a must. Have had pretty good results with the archers choice camera arm. Ground blinds a tripod will work well. Anyway you do it, filming by yourself while also hunting is a big challenge. Figure your setup out before you hunt it, make sure that your camera arm or tripod will be in a position where you can get the footage you want and also be able to move the camera with the least amount of movement and also still be able to get in positions for shots(more critical with bow). Remotes for cameras are great if they work, some will not work so well when the camera is extended out in front of you.
toddyboman
I do this alot!! First thing you need to decide is what is more important....shooting the deer or filming yourself shooting the deer? Cause the 2 are very different..... My camera has saved more deer lives than I care to mention. Deer never stop where you want....so you might have a shot but you don't have them on camera. And when you are at full draw its kinda hard to move the camera. Zooming in and out is a challenge as well.....I like to stay zoomed out as the deer approaches but when it comes in closer for a shot I like to zoom in a bit closer.....well again its hard to zoom in when at full draw so getting all that right before you come to full draw IS challenging. One thing I have done is the set the camera arm at about waist level that way I can push the camera arm over a bit if needed with my hip......sometimes it works.....sometimes it doesn't. Oh and just because at first light or last light YOU can see.....doesn't mean the camera has enough light to see. I hardly ever go to the woods without my camera but it sure is a challenge to get the shot off on camera while by yourself but is sure is fun
Wobbly_Alaska
Little bit different here, we have such tough antler restrictions on our area... i take photos after. as i am often by myself putting the meat in the freezer is more important then the memories of it. it would be nice to film our moose hunts one day, but i am not willing to let a legal moose go by for the filming...good luck at it i sure enjoy seeing some of those that are...
