Tominator
Anyone else catch the first episode of The Pacific? So far, not as good as Band of Brothers IMHO, but it was pretty good. http://www.hbo.com/index.html#/the-pacific

Tominator
I missed it but meant to get it on my DVR schedule! It's being replayed a bunch of times--in fact, I think you can watch it online. http://www.hbo.com/index.html#/the-pacific/episodes/0/01-part-1/video/part-1-full-episode.html You will be required to register. Might be worth it if you don't have HBO.

TBow
I haven't caught any of the episides of The Pacific as of yet, but intend to. If it's even half as good as Band of Brothers, I think it'll be great. I thought the Band of Brothers was the absolute best mini series I'd ever seen. I think I've watched the entire series 3 or 4 times. TBow

Texan_Til_I_Die
Don't have HBO so no, I didn't watch it. I probably will when it hits the DVD market even though I got a little ticked off at Tom Hanks for a statement he made about the U.S. involvement in the Pacific in WWII. But Hanks is a liberal so what would expect - they always get around to blaming America for something sooner or later.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Finally watched it last night. Looks like it is going to be pretty good. I can't count how many times I have seen Band of Brothers, it will be hard to beat that show, but this one looks like it should be a good one. Tominator
I can tell you right now, one of the books this series is based on "The Pacific" by Hugh Ambrose (his dad is the one who wrote Band of Brothers), sucks so far. The book follows 5 guys and it jumps back and forth chronologically. All of the guys in the book are in the Marines, but 3 of the 5 are in different outfits. One is a pilot stationed on the Enterprise, one is stationed in the Phillipines, and the other 3 are foot soldiers. The pilot stuff is good, but the dude in the Phillipines surrendered in chapter 1, so I'm sure the rest of his war will be march of Bataan and prison camp stuff, which really doesn't interest me when it comes to WWII documentaries. I like to see the history of the battles and such. So far the movie is not following the book.
