Gator
Okay, so I get a LETTER telling me that my census questionnaire will be arriving in the next week. THEN it does arrive, but HAND CARRIED?!?!?! :jaw::jaw: How much of OUR tax dollars were wasted in that process I wonder? I mean, it's all over the news and TV telling me its coming and to fill it out, but to send a letter saying its coming?? Typical gov't waste!!!! WHISKEYSWAMP
Thought the same thing... got a letter last week, imagine I'll be recieving the census soon.
wtnhunt
Lot of advertising gone into it too, both televison and other sources, even had a reminder on our electric bills to be sure to fill it out. Figure those who are not planning to fill it out have their reasons and chances are that the govt's efforts likely will not change that. Ours got here yesterday, was in our box with the rest of our mail.
c_lou
I said the same thing to my wife when we got our letter. Wouldn't we know the Census was coming, when we got it in the mail?
texastrophies
Got mine on Monday, sent it out on Tuesday. Kind of wonder if they shouldn't already know the information on it from the IRS. Seems like a little consolidation of information would save some $$$$ also.

Typical gov't waste!!!!The new estimated life cycle cost for the 2010 Census is $13.7 to $14.5 billion. (source: census.gov) I mailed mine this morning and for the first time ever, I got the short form. I did put some thought into my answers, and for Race I put Other>Human. GWSmith
Scary thing is they probably had commisioned(code for Spent Your Tax Dollars) on a study with a private research company on the best way to inform the public of something that would have just happened! gzilla45
Does anyone know if these questions are mandatory? I'd prefer to only put down the number of people in my household.
coles
i got a letter in the mail too and then some lady hand delivered mine. Ive seen commercials for it with the actors from Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and ive seen other tv show characters do commercials for it. Really rediculous. redkneck
Mine has been sitting on the bar all week. One thing for sure is you don't want to ignore it! Man those folks can be one pain in the rear when you don't send it in, you start to see unmarked cars following you

All they need to know is "number of people and their age" living in your household....that is what a census is...counting people....any other questions is an invasion of your privacy
