Pike
This is pathetic!! In 2009-10, 900,000 + PA. deer hunters had an ESTIMATED Deer Harvest of 308,920 deer. Meanwhile our next store neighbors, 400,000 OH. deer hunters had an ACTUAL Deer Harvest of 261,314 deer. (the ODNR only counts deer that are actually checked in and do not use estimates) And according to the PGC., PA. currently has a lot more deer per square mile.LMAO!! The PGC. is a Joke and needs to be blown up, turned into scrap and them dumped into the ocean!! And then send their employee's to Super Pets for new jobs!! Hoyt03
First off I don't live far from you and the deer hunting in the area is really really good with alot better bucks then yrs past. I could see turning back the doe harvest just a tad, but overall it's not bad for this area. As far as reporting harvest data I totally agree with you. The numbers they come up with are basically an educated guess and I believe they are not accurate at all. With the new licensing system it's so easy to report your harvest, plus it's stays there in your profile on line under your number so you can go back yr to yr and see what you harvested, which is kind of neat to help remember. I think that with the new numbered license, every tag you are issued for big game(deer, turkey, bear) you should have to report at the end of the year whether you harvested or did not harvest. ALL issued permits(buck tag, turkey tags, all doe tags) should be reported regardless if you harvested or did not. Then you can easily see what was not reported and the guys who didn't report, their license cost a certain percentage more the following year. Revoking a license just would cost the pgc money anyway and plus the person would probably still try to hunt, just up their cost to buy. Pike
Hoyt, Herd Reduction doesn't affect me one bit, but just because it doesn't affect me doesn't mean I shouldn't care about the other hunter's the other area's of the state as well as the rich hunting tradition we have. And as far as deer harvest reporting, for decades the PGC. has claimed that more than 60% of PA. hunters are lazy, law breaking hunters and don't report their harvest. And because of this, there is no way the PGC. can give accurate harvest and deer density numbers. But let me ask you a serious question, (and im not trying to be smart or rude) Hoyt If I told you that 60 + % of your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, congregation, political party, etc. etc. etc. were lazy law breaking slobs who couldn't spare 2 minutes of their time to do what was required of them, would you believe or agree with me? If your answer is NO!! (Which Im sure it is) How can you believe that 60 +% of all PA. Hunters are?? After all the hunters of PA. are no better or worse than any other demographic in PA. Im all for antler restrictions, herd reduction (where still needed) etc. but I am sick and tired of the PGC. misleading the hunters and worse the non hunters of PA. Hoyt03
I guess they have to come up with their numbers somehow. I do think a new reporting system would be nice
ChrisSeb53
well i heard through the grape vine that this years rifle season (2010 PA) will be changed to doe only the first week, then buck will come in for a combined buck/doe season the second week... Wobbly_Alaska
900,000 hunters? sounds like a lot of compitition... 30% success rate is not that bad for those numbers either.. here... 27-33% is average and there are only +/- 600,000 in the entire state... PA_Spike_King
well i heard through the grape vine that this years rifle season (2010 PA) will be changed to doe only the first week, then buck will come in for a combined buck/doe season the second week... You have this backwards, Buck only the first week and both buck and doe the second week.
