stevebeilgard
2011 sounds like a good idea to me, also. gives us time to plan. heck, planning is 75% of the fun. well, 25% anyways. lol
texastrophies
I agree. From January to June is spent researching hunts, or waiting on draw results with anticipation of that great tag. May not be quite as good as the hunt itself, but it sure helps to pass the time during the off season.

m gardner
"It aint like it looks on TV!!" ...after nine luckless elk years I can sure confirm THAT !!! Most people I've taken that don't live here think it's like the videos. It gets pretty funny when you start to lead them into a canyon to hunt and they think there are no elk there because they don't believe an animal that big could walk down a slope that steep. RogerBruns
Hi JJL, This sounds just like the type of elk hunt that I have been looking for. Can I get more information? Thanks, Roger Bruns 1 (608) 712-1492
stevebeilgard
hey roger. maybe check out the hunt we have planned for this fall. i'm pretty sure we'll be getting a few elk. i know an outfitter who says this area has the best elk per sq. mile in the state. lots of wilderness, too, so no one driving around. abrown
I've been twice to CO elk hunting with a bow during rut. Trophy animals are trophies for one of the two reasons, smart or isolated! You can hike for several days and hunt dumb animals, which is what alot of people do. There are also trophy animals that aren't on private land and are close, but you better know how to call or have em patterened cause their probably not going to bugle. I'm batting 50% on elk with a bow with only two trips. P.S. A big whitetail buck with several hunting seasons hunter him is just as hard to get as a bull!!
