redkneck
My wife is begging for a BMW! I'm not ruling one out, but looking for one that's maybe an '08 model with some good depreciation miles on it. Anyone own one or have an opinion? I know they have a good rep for quality, but figured I'd ask the question in here and see what some of you thought. Congrats Shaun!!!! Does this mean you'll do our oil changes now too? Team Realtree
Not bad cars, but regardless of ever having to have repairs done, those and general maintenance will be pricey. Tires, parts, everything. Being able to afford the upkeep is the key.
Shaun_300
Yeah BMW parts are REALLY expensive. They are nice cars, I'll give them that, but holy smokes I wouldn't own one (not only because I am a die hard Chevy fan) just because of that, and I'm a mechanic that gets parts at cost. I've worked on a few Mercedes-Benz at the dealer and a couple BMW's, the estimates were really high for the repairs getting done. That's the nice thing with GM, you can own a Corvette or Camaro that's half the price of a BMW with twice (or more) the horsepower and performance, and parts are still reasonable for them. If I were you I'd go test drive a new Camaro, even if it's the V6. I just PDI'd a 2010 Camaro LT with the 304hp V6, and it was auto (girls car:D) and MAN was impressed on the road test. That darn thing hit 100mph really quick.
redkneck
Sounds fine and dandy Shaun, but it's not me.......it's the wife. You see..... she's uhhhh... well... what you'd call a female. I explained all the parts stuff that I already know is going to be 3 times the cost, but she's kinda set on one. Although...... she does love the new camaros I guess since I had an old 68 years ago (back when I was a stud ). I heard the v6 would really scream too (for a 6). I may get her to test drive another one (yep, another one)

redkneck
John, my cousin just bought a new camaro SS 1 with a 6.2L and all I have to say is WOW. lol Yeah, I've yet to drive one myself. I'd sure have to spring for the V8. But to tell the truth a new one is just out of my comfort zone as far as price goes. I wouldn't mind getting the wife a nice V6 if I could find one with a few miles on it under 20K. It won't be long and they'll be all over the used car lots, but still pretty new at this point. 92xj
Parts and services are high, but they are good cars. If I were to buy a beemer, the only one i would get would be an M3, actually if I could afford a lot higher dollar one it would be an M5 or the M8. The 5 and 8 will smoke any camero you can get in, off the lot of course. The M3 will hold it's own against them as well. What model is she looking at? Another good looking one is the 330, jet black with black wheels and dark tint.
redkneck
She test drove an '05 5-series today that was loaded out with low miles. I'm still crawling the web looking for something. What I'd like, and what I can afford are 2 different things
