Need ideas folks

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to do some instructional threads with pics and videos. Things that come to mind off the top of my head are simple things like changing your brakes, changing u-joints, raising the front of a truck properly that has torsion bars, doing some circuit testing, taking door panels off (ruttinbuc... :D) Changing window regulators. Stuff like that, some people are afraid to even touch a vehicle nowadays. Just to give some insight from a mechanic on how to do this stuff and how some things you may think are difficult, are really quite easy to do. :)

I'll be separating my engine and transmission tonight or tomorrow, so I may do a little video on how to do that, and explain some clutch parts etc.

Please, pick my brain folks!

Ok, not to sound like a bump in the road, but I'd say keep it simple, I mean most folks like me that do their own mechanic work are already members of chevy forums, truck forums, bike forums, and so on (or at least I am), and they all have lots of things that users like me have done and posted pics of each step to help folks out. That being said, it is a good idea, I just think it should be kept in context.

Here's one I like from a forum I use that is a sticky:

"What did you do to your truck today?"

Folks just keep adding to it daily with upgrades, mods, and such with pics.

Just my 1.5 cents :p

id like to see a u-joint video shaun considerin how my truck can eat them up. besides that id like to see maybe some videos on swapping out some heads, cams and such. interior motor components

Shawn, if you're talking about your lifted Dodge, you may have to change your pinion angle a bit, that'll save your U-joints a lot of stress and wear. If the pinion angle isn't set right and the U-joint has to flex a lot more than it should, they'll wear out in no time.

I'm sure you know what I mean, but for those who don't....

LOL I was waiting for you to pick that out.:hammer1:

I seen that pic and I thought perfect example! Then I seen that it was a Ford 9 inch and said crap, can't do that pic in my head. Then my nice side kicked in and said "Now now Shaun, not everyone can be perfect and drive Chevy's. Don't be biased."

:whip:

I always forget how to clear the oil change thingy on my Silverado and my wife's Saturn Outlook.

Maybe pin those instructions. :D

Could be a lot of different vehicles for those Chris, a thread for that type thing would be helpful for sure, careful not to pin too many threads though.

I know on the 08 durango it is turn on the ignition switch without rolling the engine and then pump the gas pedal 3 times.

Yeah I'll do my best at them William! :) Gotta do an engine swap in my lawn tractor soon, i'll do a little bit on that.

When I get time I am going to have to take my old stihl chain saw back down, may have a question for you on that. Carb is clean, was running great for a good while after I cleaned it but started acting like it had bad gas. Figure the fuel filter is stopped up on it, but not exactly sure how to get to it.
