coles
I would like to see how to crank up the torsion bars. I need to do that on my pickup cuz the front end sits way lower than the rear end. I would like to level it out but dont know if it will raise it that far.

That is actually going to be my first topic Cole. I'll try and do that tomorrow. I had originally cranked my dad's Silverado to give it more height. He got tired of the stiff ride so I lowered them back down when I changed the leaf springs a couple nights ago. Now he's complaining it sits too low again and wants them cranked back up to level it out and will deal with the ride.
Tominator
The Silverado is the same way. I can never remember that. You know why I can never remember that? Because Shaun always remembers that.
Shaun_300
If I couldn't remember that, I shouldn't darn well be a mechanic at a GM Dealer anymore. Even though I don't have to change oil anymore, which is awesome. I HATE changing oil. They say we make too much per hour to do them, then the shop doesn't make as much money as having an apprentice or quick lube guy do it who makes less than 1/2 of what we do. I gave mine 6 turns and picked up 2 inches, but going to drop it back down this weekend. The ride is stiffer, but mostly the turning radius goes to crap in 4wd. Shaun_300
That sounds about right John. I always measure from the ground to the front fender inline with the center of the wheel. Dad's was 36 1/2" when I had them cranked up, then I brought them down to 35 1/2". I'm going to bring them back up to 36 1/2"-37" tomorrow, I'll be sure to video it. I don't go by turns, I just give the bolts a few burps with the impact then measure, and so on...
Adjam5
This is good stuff here Shaun . Now instead of PMing you with my vehicle issues, I now have a thread to post them on:D. Thanks for this topic Shaun. Just a Testament to old Chevys. My 95 K1500 Silverado does NOT burn any oil with 178,000 miles on it. It has other issues like rust, but the motor and tranny are solid.
