redkneck
I generally change it at 6K to 6500 with the cheapest stuff I can find, lol. I don't buy the no-name stuff, but usually get a case of NAPA oil (Havoline). My Z71 gets a change whenever it tells me to do it, although if it tells me that in the middle of deer season it may have to wait another 500 or so miles. My vehicles get about 100% highway miles. I think the wizards at Jiffy Jube came up with that 3K mile crap. If I did that, I would be looking at about 20 oil changes a year between me and the wife's car The BMW dealer told my wife to change it at 15K with BMW HP synthetic. I think that's a little longer than I can stand, even for that oil though!

AMEN BRUTHA!!!! :1eye: I usually do about 6-7k miles on my old rig. But truth be told, it's so old it really ain't worth worrying about lol Nathan
Shaun_300
Used to be every 3000-4000 miles. Now it'll be 2000-2500 miles once I bolt that turbo on. Don't wanna screw around with oil when it has to lubricate something spinning 100,000 RPM.
92xj
2450-2550 miles 3 qts -10w30 synBlend 1 qt - lucas Napa Gold filter Never been over that, or strayed from that oil and filter combo.

mike13candace
Truck change is 3,500-4,000 miles.. seems to work for me All the oil changes are done at home.

TBow
Every 5K km (=3000 miles). You know what they say, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later!". TBow
wtnhunt
Manual or schedule on the durango said 6,000 or 6 months, but I change it around every 3,000 miles. That oil change indicator on the onboard computer is supposed to be duty cycle rated, only time it has ever come on was when I let the dealership change the oil the first few changes after we got it which were free changes, they never reset the thing. It gets 7 qts of castrol 5w-20 and a mopar filter. My 98 3/4 ton chevy also gets changed around every 3000 miles, more often when pulling a trailer and gets 5 qts of quaker state or valvoline 10w-30 and a fram filter. MUDRUNNER
I try to change it between 3-4k... rarely do I let it go beyond 4k. Same here. It's usually around 3500 or so.
Tominator
Pretty good about it actually. Usually right around 3K, sometimes let it go to 6K.

redkneck
Well I don't know the best answer, but I just traded an explorer with 260K miles, and got over 250K on my chevy and never turned a valve cover bolt one either. The 5.3L still runs super though the rear end is needing some work now, the mud takes its toll over the years.
Ethan Givan
I change mine every 3000 miles. I use Pennzoil 5w-30 and a Fram oil filter. My dad has used those two brands for his oil and filters for years and his vehicles last forever.

PA_Spike_King
I change mine at 6,000 miles or once a year as I don't put more than 10,000 miles a year on my truck. I use mobil 1 sny in 10w30 and fram filter and not had any problems for many years.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
I owned an 89 2wd silverado 305 for about 11 years. Bought it new and changed every 5000 miles. It had nearly 150,000 miles on it when I traded it and the engine was fine but the body was starting to go, maybe I should have oiled that too. I felt good enough to drive that 89 from central PA to Albuquerque N.M. and haul a small trailer and loaded bed to Kansas it had over 115,000 miles on it at the time. I now have a 2001 4wd silverado 5.3 extended cab and use mobil 1 in it changing every 4000 - 5000 miles works for me. My truck looks just like PA Spike Kings green one cept mine has the Z71 package and is maroon. He is my son.

LOL! I was waiting for someone to say that. Just fixed a 2003 Chevy 1/2 ton with the 4.3L V6 today, has 480,000km on it, it's a work truck for a construction company. The owner of the company said he wanted the oil changed every 5000km like it used to be instead of topping it up every 500km and never changing the oil. Rear main seal was leaking like a siv!:jaw:

Adjam5
Always on time at 3K for the Missus' Chevy Venture. When the "change oil light" comes on in the Corolla which is usually at 4500mi...about every 8-10 weeks. My daily commuter. My Old 95 Silverado with 178K on it, every 4k. All get Fram super guard filters with the easy grip and what ever Oil is on sale at Wally World. But always on time and I keep meticulous vehicle records. fly
Generally every 4-5 thousand miles. Depending on finances and time I'll go to 6K on occasion, but not often.
hutchies
Every 4500 miles and the key word is "I" change the oil. I don't trust the idiots at wal mart or jiffy lube to do it for $6 an hour. I like to do my own becuase when I'm underneath the car i know what is going on with it. I don't all the sudden realize that an axle seal is leaking or a u joint going out. I religiously used Mobil 1 Clean 5K and a Fram extreme guard filter. Truck has almost 240,000 on it and runs like a top. Old truck I did every 3k and used the regular fram/ Pennz and it made it almost 300,000 before the motor went.
