:no:Pretty sad indeed........You guys are shooting at RUNNING deer with your archery gear.

The shot where it shows one of you shooting a doe in the neck from a few feet away as she is running by......come on...use a little common sense and think how that looks.....

All you did was gave other hunters a bad reputation!

people shoot deer running or walking all day long with bow,, would i do it? maybe walking depending on how close it is but running no,, its not my bussiness to say what another hunter is capable of?? congrats on the kills and i hope you shoot strait in the future..

by the way i think im going to try that strategy of having a guy bump deer to me maybe next muzzleloader season i think i have an effective spot where i could kill a nice buck like that

Leather is also a member at AT.com, where he posted the same video. Interesting that the vast majority of AT members that replied were OK with it. I've seen the term "Ethics Police" over there as well......I think we have a few of our own here too..... :boxing: :whip:

COME ON GUYS.....lets be a little respectful and give these guys the benefit of the doubt with not wounding deer. They kept their shots to 10yds and under and even the neck shot was very effective, you could see blood at the exact moment of impact and the deer was recovered. This would be like them telling you that you miss/wound deer too. And if you watch the video they have deer go buy at medium ranges, still probably witin the effective range of a bow but they choose not to shoot them. SO lets give the benifit of the doubt to these guy, it's a great video showing different hunting techniques.

I think that alot of gun hunters dont understand how a bow can be effective durring this type of a hunt, short shots (10yds and under) are key, with good cammo like they were using, means you can get deer right up to you.

I say good job at getting some of the does out of the heard effectively.

To each their own. I just pointed out the not so popular or the willingness by most to shoot at running deer. The Kid said its done all day long. Just like the vast majority of kids over there on AT. We lost the word sportsmen a long time ago and that website is proof. A lot of followers there for sure... Call me an ethics cop all you want. These same kids will be the first to bring out the complaints about pictures of deer walking around with arrows in them. You want to shoot at running deer...have at it. Just be willing to live with the consequences. Oh yea, respect for your quarry has flown out the window, too.

This is fun! ;)

I agree. I guess I'm an ethics cop too.

What really bothers me about these 2 kills, is that it is pretty obvious that these guys do this type of hunting all the time and proud of it. I just can't help but wonder how many deer had to be wounded(non-fatally) before they got good enough to make this video.

I mean, "HOW" does someone practice for this type of fast and furious bouncing deer hunting. It's pretty tough to make a target imitate that action.

I'd never even try a shot like that, never-mind plan a shot like that. It's the planning on a shot like that, that I consider very, very unethical, and irresponsible .

Just my opinion, but I'm stickin to it, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Really? Of the hundreds to thousands of video clips I have viewed over the years very, very few were of people taking shots at any running wild game with a bow....Of course some do, but all day long?

Well i can obvisouly tell you have never seen the show relentless pursuit then,, just because you dont do it, doesn't mean it shouldnt be done?? I can also tell you, your percentages of hitting a deer at 2 yards are a wee bit better than hitting a deer at 30 even if they are jogging:jaw:

What's the difference in shooting a running deer at 2 to 10 yards with a bow and shooting at a running deer at up to 50 yards with a gun? I see no difference. I was brought in to hunting by the way of deer drives so I can account for shooting at them at 50 yards with a gun. There is just as much room for error there as it is with what the guys in the video are doing, yet I've seen deer drives made on the big boys shows and have hardly seen any negative feedback about them (the big shots) doing it. In all of the drives we have made there have only been 2 deer that I have not recovered.

How many have you shot and not recovered that were standing still?

Would I shoot at a running deer with a bow? Prolly not, but I'm not going to chastise someone who does just because I wouldn't.

It's no wonder new faces show up here, make one or 2 posts, get slammed, and never come back. :crutch:

Too many folks like this -------> :flex:

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

Yep, that's the reason....the guy comes in here looking for a golf clap and a "hey look at me" and expects everybody to agree on his way of doing things. Where has he been since?

If you take a good look around you will see that this website is but a shell of what it used to be. I guess that is all because somebody gets slammed now and then. I can name a whole lot of other reasons, but I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings....

Exactly why I don't take part in those hunts either. We have roughly a dozen drives go through our area on any given day during shotgun deer season, and you have no idea how many dead deer we find the next day laying dead because someone gave a poor shot. Or how often I've talked to drivers who say something like "Yeah the first shot was a rump shot, but it slowed it down enough for a second and third shot". I'm an ethics cop and I know it. But that's because I don't want anyone playing with MY life taking cheap shots at me just because it looks funny on camera.

There's a difference in responsible and irresponsible shots. I know when and when not to take a shot. I don't do the deer drives anymore since I have started leasing land to hunt on and my pops has gotten to the age where he can't do all the walking that is required when doing a drive. Would I do another drive if given the chance? Sure, as I see nothing wrong with it. Not all hunters who do drives can be put into one catagorized group as some are just flat out not responsible and shoot no matter what. While others, like myself, have limitations on what shot to make.

Fact of the matter is, there have been deer that were shot while running that have not been recovered just as there have been deer shot while standing still that have not been recovered. This is one of those topics that will end with the "to each his own" because as we can see not everyone agrees with it.

I pay attention very well my young friend. I read your post. My reply was addressed to anybody who wants to have at it. Pardon me for not pitting it in the plural..Excuse you for reading way too much into it! :jaw:

I don't see any of em much past their teens. Of course the older you get the younger they look. My reference to kids in bold is just how I see them. Both in the video and a lot of those over in AT.

I'm not discrediting your ethics, I just doubt that style of hunting based on past results, both my own and others. If you feel confident making that shot and you feel you can down it 100% of the time, then more power to ya.

Fact of the matter is, there have been deer that were shot while running that have not been recovered just as there have been deer shot while standing still that have not been recovered.

I'd be interested to see some statistics on this one though...
