Hornady SST

I recieved a 12ga. Remington 870 with a rifled barrel for my birthday. Has anyone used Hornady SST's in this model gun before? Can anyone tell me how they worked in any model of gun?

I have never used them as I shoot Lightfields. A friend of mine shoots the SST's out of his 1100 and he likes them.

My son bought 2 boxes of the SST's last season for his Mossberg 500 rifled barreled .20ga and they didn't pattern well at all. He went back to Brenneke slugs.

I shoot the Hornady SST's in my Mossberg 500, and they are a MEAN slug. They shoot far and flat and put a big hole in a deer :gun2:

Ive also used and like them, I switched from the Rem Copper solids to those. They worked well through My 500A Mossy slug gun.

I tried to pattern them out of my 870 in 12ga and 20ga. Could not get them as close as the Lightfields. They were not bad, just not as tight.

I ran them thew my moss and my friend ran them threw his 870 and neither of us were impressed with them.

BUT remember

each shotgun is different, I've seen an 870 run a slug type good and another one run it poorly. I have been using remington copper solids in my moss 695 bolt. I shot a buck last fall at 165yds and dropped him.
