The players that are getting older just lost a year and for some it may have been the end of their careers. He should've stepped up to the plate instead of whining about it. My feelings exactly he can go run the Swedish Elite league or something but get him out of the nhl. It's gonna be veryyyyyyy interesting who gets to draft Sidney Crosby this year. By failing to negotiate, the union management has cost [many of] its members. Few will make enough in the future to offset what was lost this year. If union management is as sure of its position and unity as stated, why not permit the general population to vote on contract proposals? I'd guess that they are afraid of the results. The NHL owners have a right to run their businesses as they see fit. No player is entitled to a multimillion dollar contract. I hated that egotistical little worm long before the labor stoppage-the owners bid the saleries up-and the players have conceded way more than the owners. They should fire both bettman and goodenough-they peed away the whole summer they shoul;d of been locked in a hotel until they came up with something not meeting for a couple hours every month. Then you have to look at the players who wouldn't sign a salary cap. in the NHL, but would go play in other leagues under a cap. and take other players jobs who have only dreamt about making the kind of money that a player in the NHL would.
