mossyhorn
I am torn between 2 bows guys. Just left the shop and shot a Bowtech Destroyer 350. This bow is something else. It does feel a little top heavy but shooting it is dead in the hand, and insane fast. Now I have shot Mathews for a long time and was planning on getting a Z7. This bow draws so smooth and nice. It is slower than the Destroyer but when it comes down to it is also about $160 cheaper too. Guys chime in anyone own or who has shot these bows give me some feed back tell me what you like and dislike.
hutchies
Not bashing here but check AT on the Destroyers. Some guys having them come unstrung at full draw. Tons of good bows out there. Might check some other shops too. Alot of Mathews guys are going to the Hoyt Maxxis this year. It is a sweet bow.
ChrisSeb53
i shot the destroyer but it has just a little too much creep for me... typical for a bowtech bow... if you aren't bias on brands.. I too would shoot the maxxis... i shot it and the z7... decided on the maxxis and havent looked back since... the draw is smoother IMO than the z7 and there is NO creep
Diamond Archer 01
Both make great bows. Pick which ever one fits you the best. I would give hoyt a chance though. I hear great things about the maxxis and I currently own a turbohawk. I love it.
m gardner
I've never have had any trouble with a Mathews bow. I'll leave it at that. Mark

That was enough for me to make up my mind.
dbHunterNY
Call them up or email them and ask a question that can be answered and see what you get. Another big thing is local archery shops. If you really like a shop near you maybe they sell one and not the other. Most of all is how well the bow fits you. I haven't shot all of the ones you mentioned to give input. I thought the Destroyer 340 was nice, but it's not my choice. It's yours.

Had been shooting all afternoon when got back out to 40 yards and was going to shoot my last 2 arrows of the day at full draw for second shot the center of limb split in half and hit me in the arm. (Pics attached). On top that, now im going to lose practice time before turkey season. mossyhorn
Wow those pictures are bad man.....but even with that looks like the Z7 is what I am going with. Got to shoot one today and well its love. When it comes down to it the major difference is price from my take. The Z7 feel a little more smooth on draw where as the destroyer is faster. But 730 vs 899. As for a hoyt the only people around that sale them dont have a place to test shoot so I just dont go there to check bows out anymore. You might want to check out this thread, especially the second and third paragraphs... http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9163 To answer the original post, I've been very happy with my Z7. From the beginning of the draw cycle to the shot, it is the smoothest bow I've shot. I'm impressed with the draw cycle and how dead the bow is on release. The most impressive thing about the Z7 is how quiet it is.

I thought the guy was joking when he told me it was set at 66lbs. I comes down to what you look for. If you want the fastest bow on the market then the destroyer. Also how much you would like to invest in a bow. And to some like my friend who works for a bowtech dealer, brand loyalty.

stcif
I would not be scared of the Mathews. I do not shoot a Mathews, I shoot a Diamond. I just feel that any bow is subject to a mechanical problem. I think the $160.00 would make a big difference to me. I would also see what bow was quieter. Screaming arrows mean little to me if the bow is loud. Have fun with your decision.

Screaming arrows mean little to me if the bow is loud. Have fun with your decision. exactly, i shoot the Z7 now.. still like my martins, have bowtechs in the house too... Bowtech had a bad run for a year or so also.. with a ton of limbs breaking. they survived it. and keep their good reputations. the one listed is ONLY one ... if a rash more start to show up then definantly keep an eye on it... but even winchester, has a gun breach on occasions.. shipping issues, or Monday morning Friday evening assemblaly... something went wrong for that bow some where.. perhaps it was dry fired in the shop by a previous handler? Both bowtech and Mathews are great brands.. as are most the others. and i will still shop Martin before anyother brand
Chrud
For what it's worth, I wouldn't let a user who repeatedly posts the same material in every Mathews thread sway your decision. Especially considering that it appears the user does not have much, if any, experience with the product they continue to bad-mouth/paste partial information from another forum about. ChrisSeb53
easy guys... lets not make this a thread that bashes another member for posting something on more than one thread... just kinda what i got from reading the last half of this thread...:offtopic:
