Hey guys its been a while since I've posted but I've kept up with reading the boards. What an exciting hunt I had this morning to open the season here in my county. To make long story short, about 3 weeks ago I met a preacher that down in the little town of Manning SC that knew my father very well. This guy has about 500 acres of land boarding one of the biggest swamps in the area. He recently let a logging company log about 200 acres of it last summer. He told me nobody hunts it & if I wanted to hunt it, it was all mine. I jumped at the chance!!!!!3 weeks ago I started my scouting & found turkey tracks all over the place, especially down the logging roads where the trucks would come in & out. Their is a large clearing of hard sand about 75 yards from the main creek running through the swamp & a dirt road leading to this clearing. Well this morning I got there 45 minuts before sun up. I couldn't even get set up good before the whole swamp was thundering with gobbles all around me. I quickly set up my Primos Killer B & She mobile. I put them in the clearing with she mobile laying flat on her belly like she was ready to get it on. Sure enough right at sun light I heard a few more gobbles. Then for about 15 minutes nothing. I called sparatically then all of a sudden 3 hens burst onto the scene followed by this guy. Sure enough he came in right after them & tried to start a fight with my decoy. I let him have it at about 30 yards with some Heavy shot 13. He dropped like he was hammered into the ground!! After shooting him their were 3 or 4 more turkeys in the swamp gobbling like crazy. I didn't stay to call them. I was alone this morning but my wife is going back with me tomorrow morning. Wish us luck!!!
