redkneck
Or at least an out-of-warranty one where the maintenance is not covered. Oil change = $110 New battery = $500 (My advice is to not try it at home!) Tranny oil change = $320 + $110 to reset the computer And if you think about skimping on maintenance, consider that a rebuilt engine is 16K, salvage yard engine is 7K plus installation labor. Wife's car is in superb condition, but the things that could go wrong are beginning to haunt me at night in my sleep! I'm sure thinking of trading it soon!!! I really had no idea the cost of owning one till now.
wtnhunt
That is pretty crazy John. You have not even had it long enough to make a payment on it yet have you?
redkneck
No William, not yet lol! I just keep running through all the possible service items and maintenance schedules and realize she could have gotten a new camaro and we would have come out a lot cheaper (not to mention a heck of a nice Camry or Lexus!) Have you got a lot of experience with them?

Shaun_300
Yep, they are a very expensive car to maintain. Heaven forbid if an engine or transmission blows out of warranty. I could replace an transmission customer pay on any GM vehicle for under $5000 installed, most around $3000.
