bfletch7441
I was riding around with our middle girl Sallie yesterday, and found an old claw foot bath tub back in the boonies on our place. I couldn't believe I found it. The porcelain is stained and it's a bit rusty, but all four feet were there. I plugged the drain hole and filled it up with water, but didn't find any leaks or cracks. I'm planning on having someone who knows about castings look at it and then either having it refinished or doing it myself. Does anyone know about refinishing this kind of thing? Can it be done or would I be better off letting the pros do it? We're heading out to KC for vacation tonight, but I'll try to get some pictures up next week. RangerClay
Great find Ben! Hopefully you can find someone to refinish it. It is worth its weigh in cash if you ever wanted to sell it.

I mentioned that to JaLynn and she about bit my head off, soooo, we'll be keeping it. Ben
Tominator
Is it going to fit through your doorways? They are good looking tubs, and that retro look is coming back lately. Good luck with it.

LifeNRA
Could be worth quite a bit of money to an antique collector! Great find!
stevebeilgard
Is it going to fit through your doorways? most doorways are 30", 29" after the door stops. turn the tub on it's side and it should slide through any doorway easily. some bathroom doors are only 24", so that may be a problem there. got a chainsaw???:pop:
mike
definatelt worth hiring someone to refinish it for you. that kind of finish isn't for amatures if you want it to last
woolybear
definatelt worth hiring someone to refinish it for you. that kind of finish isn't for amatures if you want it to last Gotta agree with mike. I used to repair/refinish fiberglass units with gel coat and acrylic finishes. Lot more work and upkeep to it than some may lead you to believe if you expect it to stay looking good for any time. That work would come with a warranty too. A do it yourself kit may have you dragging that sucker back into the woods faster than you got it home a few dollars poorer. Good luck with it, a nice antique soaker can add an ellegant look to just about any bathroom with enough room for one.
Bruce Schmeck
Well....................................not being one of those "tub bath" guys I think I'd do my back and wallet both a favor and just use it as a deer watering trough and set up a stand over it. In all likelyhood dragging a deer in is going to be easier than dragging that tub around.
