Why I can't stand Nemechek.

I met him a few years ago and hoped to be able to talk to him since the both of us are from Florida and he grew up in Lakeland and we have family there and such. He was the rudest driver I have ever met and acted like where he was, was the last place he wanted to be. There wasn't many people at the Chevy dealer he was at and all he was doing was signing those cards and handing them over his shoulder and not looking at anyone or saying hello or thank you and acted completely put out by me talking about being from Florida. After that day, I swore I never wanted to see him win another race and coudn't care less where his career went. Even though I pull for Gordon, I generally like all the drivers, even Junior, and I would have rather have seen Junior win Sunday than " Front Row " Joe. I have met more than one driver, and he was the worst, with Ken Schrader coming up behind, the nicest I have met, Spencer and Brett Bodine, Ricky Rudd was pretty cool, at least he would say hello and shake your hand, he's pretty short though, thats what is surprising. I just don't understand why some guys act the way they do. I guess some haven't realized that the fans are the reason they have a job and all that money.

Re: Why I can\'t stand Nemechek.

So Schrader was sort of a dink too? I don't know if I'd say thats odd, he always seems a little uptight in his interviews.

Here is an idea from your experience. What drivers have you guys from the Forums met and how were they in person? I'm sure some of the big name guys like Junior and Gordon aren't what they really are. I mean like you'd want to sit there for a couple hours and have people screaming at you and signing your name. Doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

I haven't met any. A friend on mine met Jimmie Johnson when he used to race in town. He wasn't known back then but said he was pretty cool. He's short though. grin.gif

I GUESS EVERYBODY HAS BAD DAY ONCE IN A WHILE.DEPENDS ON WHAT KINDA DAY YOU CATCH THEM ON.IVE TALKED TO SCHRADER A FEW TIMES,AND HE IS VERY APPROACHABLE AND ALWAYS SEEMED LIKE A PRETTY FRIENDLY GUY TO ME.I MET RUSTY A FEW YEARS AGO AND HE SEEMED PRETTY RUDE AND SNOTTY TO ME,AND I HAVENT LIKED HIM SINCE THEN.I THINK THE EASIEST GUY TO TALK TO IS BRENDAN GAUGHAN.

Re: Why I can\'t stand Nemechek.

As I read this post, I sit here looking at the media pass Jimmy Spencer signed for my sister a few years ago. I look at the pics on the wall of my sister in the pits with the crews and drivers during the race. I asked her to do one thing for me while attending the cup races that year. It was for my little boy who has a Nascar hero.

She complied, she went out to the souviner truck and bought the drivers hat in question. After the race she bumped into this driver. No other people where around and things where winding down. She handed him the hat with a marker and asked if he would please sign it for her. He looked at her like she was crazy and told her to give me a break, I just drove 500 miles. smirk.gif

I will tell you this, it wasnt front row Joe .

He wasnt even alive SS. That was not nice.

And how am I supposed to know that. You didn't put a year. You said a few years ago. Well, Sr. dies in 2001, so that was a few years ago, maybe it was in 2000. Don't get on me and say it was a cheap shot and low blow when you weren't specific enough in your post. So apparently it was after Sr. dies, so I'm saying it was Junior now. mad.gif

The fact of the matter is no matter who it was why bring up the dead. Out of repsect if the driver in question was deceased I would never had mention the situation. Thats just common sense.

FYI: The driver in question is still my boy's favorite and I aint got a problem with it.

OK OK, can't bring up negative stuff about the dead anymore. I have changed my answer to Tony Stewart. Final answer.

On another story about Nemechek, told to me by a co-worker. He said he was at Hickory when Joe won the Busch championship and a little boy asked for an autograph. Joe turned around and yelled at the kid and told him he didn't have time for that crap. My coworker said that he proceeded to tell Nemechek off( coworker, not little kid) , it seems Nemechek has rubbed more race fans than myself the wrong way.
