Wobbly_Alaska
cruising through Ebay today in the taxidermy rooms.. i see a ton of mounts for sale... antlers, skulls all of it... the current prices do not seem that high or even close to what i know of Taxidermy cost.. we are not allowed to sell any mounts or antler attached to the skull plate here so it is kind of surprising... i guess i could see maybe some of the exotic stuff from over seas as a collectable..( or the 6 foot long horn ) but i could drive or fly down there and shoot deer, antelope etc MYSELF and have a much better story... is there really a market for it? aside from the dill rod last summer that was posting all over the net hi powers as a skilled hunter and his pope and young ebays pawning them off as his own... can some one explain the what for... to me. honestly now... i have led a sheltered life up here ... thanks
Shaun_300
I have no idea why someone would buy a mount that they haven't shot the animal themselves. Makes no sense at all to me. That's just me though....
texastrophies
Decorations. Around here, a lot of the restaurants and other types of businesses have mounts as decorations.

MichiganHunter
If I was decorating and wanted something specific sure why not....would much rather have killed it my self.
stevebeilgard
i've sold dozens of mounts, but never would purchase one. i'll get my own if i need one. and i need a buffalo, muskox, and polar bear. the hunts just cost too much. mallard_drake85
Use to have an acquaintence whose uncle gave him a small set of mule deer antlers, and he use to try an tell people they were his...When we found out bout this and called him out on it, his whole demeanor changed. IMO trying to pawn off someone elses harvest as your own is a form of theft! ok I'm off my soap box. I would never purchase someone elses mounts as the would not have any meaning to me. I'd rather spend the time and effort myself to tag said animals. mallard_drake85
coles
I wouldnt ever buy one or sell one. My great grandpa shot a tiger in india a long time ago and after my great grandparents died, the tiger rug went to my uncle. he had it appraised at about $70K! just for the skin. Not including the head mount.
Dawg
I know folks that have bought antlers and made lamps and other decorations out of them. The lamps can sell for a pretty penny.
wtnhunt
Can see where people would buy mounts for decorating, prefer to display animals members of the family or I have killed in my own home and do not foresee me ever buying a mount of an animal someone else killed. On the topic of lamps and other antler decorations, those are nice and would not mind having something like that from antlers or even replica antlers that were not from animals I personally have killed, kind of different than mounts at least from my perspective.
