Turkeygirl
Anyone have one? What works well or what is good out there on the market? I want to get a fully enclosed blind to set up in our woods, near the apple trees where the deer were coming in last fall, and was getting photos of all those bucks...I want to make myself a nice little hunting spot in there and a ground blind would probably work best. Any recommendations/suggestions? Something under $200.
ruttinbuc
I prefer the hub style blinds after hunting in one with Leo for turkeys last year. They have more room. The Primos Ground Max Vision is on sale at Cabelas for $169. It looks like a good one. I have the Predator Den which I got at a great price last year. That is a nice blind too, but without the view you might get from the vision
Diamond Archer 01
I use the primos eclipse blind. It fits me and my dad comfortably in it and it is a very good blind.
The Kid
make a round bale blind,, i wouldnt use a dog house.. i have a double bull 360 but i dont keep it out there cuz it cost 400 bucks and i dont want someone to steal it,, with a blind like a dog house your going to have to keep it out in the woods so the deer get used to it. if i were you i would just google round bale blind and search using the images and there is a picture that shows you how to make one. thats what im going to do this year,, i think you could make one for under 100 bucks

Flintlock1776
Over you budget but worth saving up for: Double Bull Matrix RECURVE model. Since Primos bought out the Double Bull guys, you may want to call them up and see if they still have them.
Prairiepredator
We have an ameristep doghouse but it is not in very good shape anymore and we only had it for a couple of years. It is just not very good quality. Not a whole lot of room to draw a bow in it either. It is also a pain to take down. Just remember...cheaper is not always better. pintail_drake2004
We have a popup blind, but I am not too fond of bowhunting from it. Just seems like alot of wasted time setting the thing up and brushing it in. Since you have to brush it in, whats the point? Build a quick ground blind with your brush IMHO. IDK maybe we just havent found the right popup blind yet, seems to me they dont have alot of room to move/draw in. I dont have that long of a draw, only 26" but I am not a small guy either. In our ameristep, my shoulders touch the sides
dbHunterNY
i'd go with hub style opposed to spring steel style. ameristep makes some good ones with the vertical tall windows; Mountaineer, The Choice Hybrid, Brickhouse, and Tom Taker. I know the Tom Taker is like $125.
hunterbobb
I don't use one anymore. I find them to restrictive and I suspect them of being scent factories. I can't prove it. Just my opinion. :gun2:
SE_KSBowhunter
I use the hub-style blinds from Ameristep. They are easy set-up/take-down and are reasonably priced. I have the Brickhouse, Bone Collector and Intimidator and all 3 work great. We usually have a cameraman in the blind too and there is plenty of room to draw your bow. The Brickhouse and Bone Collector are both under $200 at Cabelas and Bass Pro.

RangerClay
I have been using an Ameristep Doghouse TSC for 3 years now and I have absolutely no complaints. I got it on sale back then at BPS for $70. This past deer season I had a boat load of deer within 20-30 yards. There is room for me and the kids. The view from my blind. My bow is hanging from a hook they provide. Just brush it in and wait for the deer. Don't let the pic fool you, it is dark in there. The camera flash lit up the inside. Turkeygirl
Do any of you find, when hunting from a blind, any issues with the site pins such as not being bright enough to see or does the dark inside not affect them too much? I do like the looks/features of the Primos Vision....
ruttinbuc
Pins can be an issue in low light. You might have to add a sight light. Depends on how light gathering your pins are. You could allow light in from open side or behind openings, but that may cast light on you and your movement. It would be a matter of getting a blind and then preparing for the worst case scenario. Flintlock1776
You could add the light to brighten the pins; however, I found the deer get so close it can be a moot point!
sskybnd
the only thing i found was just before the sun came up the pins were dark, but when it did they glowed again, and the same thing just after sun set, i do have a light for the sight, but didnt use the bind but a few days. RTF
I have been using an Ameristep Doghouse TSC for 3 years now and I have absolutely no complaints. I totally agree with you 100%. I have 2 of them cuz I love them so much. Very easy to put up and take down, and very light weight to carry in. Mine is water repellent and is a pretty good wind breaker too. They do however have to be brush in. As far as scent control, I have had coyotes and deer walk within 10 yards of the blind this past NY turkey season including a deer that bedded down 30 yards behind me. That deer layed there for 4 hours, while I hunted, drinking coffee and even taking 2 pee's inside the blind. The wind was swirly that day and blew from all directions. I only keep one window open when hunting and that window is covered with shoot through mesh. You can get these blinds for about $50.00 on ebay or in my case in New Hartford, NY for about $60.00. Here is a pic of my last set up during the NY spring 2010 turkey season. The same spot were that deer bedded behind me.
