Time of death: 251,700 Miles

I think my rear diff has finally bit the dust. Time to get another. Too many days in some bad mud I think ate it up. I should have been paying more attention to it. So now I got to come up with a game plan since she's my daily driver and I sold my bike. Good thing the parents have a spare so I dont have to rush! I guess you're never too old to mooch :D

Yeah if you want to do it yourself that's the easiest way to go, unless you've rebuilt rear diffs before and have a press, the dial indicators and micrometers to measure your 0.001" tolerances.

If you don't know what rear diff is in your truck just give me your VIN and I'll check GM VIS and get you the RPO code and the ratio.

Thanks bud, I'll sure do that. I've never attempted to do a rear end, though I got access to presses and indicators at work. I'll take my chances with a salvage unit with some warranty, then go through it and put on a new gasket, front seal, axle bearings etc. I'm over at pop's now frying fish, but will shoot it to you when I get home.

Shaun, I'll shoot you another VIN later if you can look it up for me. My buddy owns a salvage yard and has a silverado parted out with the rear axle left in it but unsure of the ratio.

Only 400 bucks with me pulling it. Way cheaper than most around here going for 600-1200 depending on mileage.
