I got him! I missed this same exzact bird less than 100 yards from where I killed him last Monday evening. My morning went like this. I went to a different piece of land this morning thinking that my turkey I named Ted was either killed or ran off by those tresspassers I caught Saturday. I set up in a holler this morning without hearing a single gobble and called for maybe 10 minutes until I hear something running up behind me, a COYOTE! I make a quick pop shot at him with no avail and took my decoys up and headed down to the field to set up again without hearing anything that sounded like a turkey. I get to the field and get set up and start calling and a hen answers me. I called her in and she had a beard! But I decided to let her go (she saw me anyway :D). So I head back to the truck its now 9:45. I head back to the land where I missed Ted and crow called with no answers so I decided to just do some scouting and so I walked up the holler/ravine thingy to where the ridge meets the side of the mountain (that was a LONG walk) and got to the top of the ridge where I heard Ted roost last Thursday. I started walking towards where I missed him at walking slowly and I came to a spot that you could see for about 75 yards down into a holler and set up just to call and pass some time. I get set up and call and it was like I had set up on a gobbling bird! He answered me 150 yards away! After that it was all downhill from there he came in on a STRING! 15 yard shot and I made this shell count! I worked hard for this ol boy! 10'' Beard, 1'' Spurs, and 18 lbs.
