Trigger
hey guys i have a couple rem 700 sps's i was interested in getting bedded what is better glass or aluminum? and i noticed that there are some "do it yourself" glass beding compounds you can buy. I'm pretty handy and was wondering if anyone ever used these if they might be a good road to go.
hunterbobb
Aluminum blocks are supposedly more stable. The big problem with them is that it requires a skilled gunsmith to install one. There is many hours of hand work involved and we all know that means money. The glass bedding kits sold from Brownells are easy to use and can be done by anyone. They provide good results. The biggest thing to remember is to read the directions several times and be certain you understand everything they say before you start working. Finally, don't skimp on the release agent. If you mess up and don't use enough release agent you could find your action and stock have become one soild piece. While this is not good for cleaning and maintenence it actually has some accuarcey benefits. P.S. You are obviously a highly intellegent person based on your choice of hunting dog. Yellow Labs are the best aren't they? :gun2: Edited April 14, 2010 by hunterbobb
Trigger
Wouldn't trade that dog for the world! Though some of things he does makes me question his intelligence, he is very smart when he wants to be lol. Thanks for the advice!
