Prairiepredator
I enjoy hunting pheasants...but deer hunting comes first. Thats why I like to tag out early...so then I have some time to hunt pheasants. I did get one this season though. My first time ever hunting was pheasants with my dad, and I was using a .410 shotgun. I managed to get one that day too...and that's when my addiction for hunting started.
Tominator
First season in a number of years where I didn't actively pursue pheasants. I love to hunt those things, but there just aren't many around.
MUDRUNNER
I used to go to South Dakota every year. Talk about a blast! I've missed the last two years since finances have gotten a little tighter. I do manage to hunt at a state park once or twice a year, but they are all released birds. After hunting in SD for so many years, the state park hunt just isn't as fun as it used to be.
birdhunter39
i hunt both pen raised pheasants and wild pheasants , after i don't see any more birds i then turn to pen raised birds , the thing i like most about the pen birds is that i can buy what i can afford , a few years back i bought 60 pheasants and had a blast . there was 3 of us shooting that day which equals out to 20 birds a person
birdhunter39
my last pen raised bird hunt was both chukar and pheasant , i bought 5 of each and shot 9 out of 10 birds , i know and understand that its not the same as wild birds , but it's fun anyways and prolongs your hunting season . plus this shooting preserve is only a half hour away from where i live . Flintlock1776
I have. On free range open sapces they are fun to go for. I went to one of the 'gentlemen' hunts a few years ago. 14 Stations you rotate thru. Not my cup of tea for sure. More just a harvest than a hunt
Dakota
I live in the heart of pheasant country: South Dakota baby! I've had better years than this past year; due to a wet year most of the corn was still up and the birds were hard to find. I did manage to shoot a real nice rooster for the wall though...well...er...freezer first...taxidermist later once I can afford it. Doc
Doesn't anyone on this forum hunt pheasants. I have been watching for pheasant posts and haven't seen anything. Would like to know how everyone elses season went. :gun2: We don't have any. No farmland anymore, and nobody has stocked any here in decades. I remember hearing one somewhere's down the valley about 7 or 8 years ago, and it was considered a very rare abnormality. Doc
pointing_dogs_rule
I've switched to shraptails & chickens in the Dakotas and Wyoming. Not as popular so that makes finding ground to hunt easier. Dogs love the work and they are plentiful in most years. good luck to all the dog
