Who is the best athlete you've ever had the pleasure/misfortune of meeting face to face on the court/ field. I'll bet some of you have some great stories to share.

Basketball- When I was in high school, I played against Wayne Chism (UT VOLS) and Willie Kemp (Univ. of Memphis). Chism who is 6ft. 9 was playing for Jackson Southside, and I was the 6ft. 2 cracker who was unlucky enough to guard him. I still have nightmares. I tried to shoot with Chism standing 8 feet away and he blocked my shot at the top of its arch. I watched my cousin's team beat Tony Delk in High School. They had to mark him at half court because this crazy guy was pulling up and hitting jump shots from behind the hash marks.

Soccer- I covered Andy Metcalf man to man in 3 high school games and actually held him to 1 goal. He was insanely quick, but I was bigger and stronger so I just inflicted as much pain as I could at every given opportunity. He went on to become the leading scorer for Memphis in their championship run and for C USA. Then he went to the MLS.

None that are pros as of yet. Last count I did, I played high school baseball against 7 guys now playing baseball at Mississippi State, 2 at Ole Miss, and 1 at Southern Miss, One that is playing football at MS State and played with a guy that played qb at Marshall.

Played softball against a guy named Josh Booty. He was drafted in the majors but never panned out(I still have his rookie card). Then he went to college and, I believe, played QB for either USC or LSU. Not sure which one. The guy had the strongest arm I've ever seen on the field. Nice hands for a big guy, too. Hit the ball a mile!

I use to play alot of summer hockey with some of the local NHLers here....Kurt muller and Doug Gillmore....and a few others.
