MichiganHuntr1
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner [ QUOTE ] I don't like a lot of the stuff they say either IDH. I'd stick up for him too, but some of those Gordon fans show some true class. It'll be just like last year. Once Junior wins, they won't reply at all. [/ QUOTE ] Chrud, if youre talking about me. I reply, i say nice job Jr.

Ironranger
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner If Jeff doesn't win a race there is nobody I'd rather see when than Jr. They both race hard and clean which earns my respect for both drivers... Chrud
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Those are the kinds of comments that are good. Folks like and dislike drivers for various reasons, but I hate it when people say stupid stuff about drivers. Especially when the have no knowledge of the driver's background. Especially considering Junior. He raced dirt tracks, local stuff and worked his way up in racing. He had his dad around for his rookie year in the Cup series and that was it. He's done everything on his own.
muggs
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner [ QUOTE ] He's done everything on his own. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, so did George W. Hey Chrud, I'm just trying to stir the pot here a bit, I just happen to think Gordon did more on his own then Jr. Jr. would be nowhere near what he is if it was for his Dad. I guess I just like rooting for Gordon because he doesn't deserve the disrepect he gets.

Chrud
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Then Jimmie Johnson would be no where without Jeff Gordon. Junior doesn't get the credit he deserves, especially from people like you, who don't read anything about drivers. He got dropped into a Cup team that had one win and one team. Now it is one of the most competitive teams on the circuit.

muggs
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner I didn't post any information, only my opinion. I guess "us people" just have a different opinion than you. The Earnhardt name opened a lot of doors for him. Even when he started off on the dirt tracks. The money and fame followed, heightened after the tragic death of his father. And by stirring the pot, I was referring to opening up a discussion, not attacking anyone. Chrud
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner [ QUOTE ] The Earnhardt name opened a lot of doors for him. [/ QUOTE ] Duh! But so many of the Gordon fans don't give him credit for anything he's done. I'm sure Dale Sr helped Junior get the Busch ride with RCR in 1998. What did DALE JR do? He won back-to-back championships. Naturally, you want your own son to race for your team. With what DALE JR accomplished in the Busch series, that just helped secure him in the 8 car. What has DALE JR done? HE has won 15 races, finishing in the Top-10 in Points 3 times and has started his own Busch team. Is everything Dale Jr accomplished because of his dad? Has he done nothing to get those wins and those championships?
muggs
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Did I ever say he wasn't a good driver?? He's good but there are a lot of good drivers out there that never get shot. Plus Little E gets the best and fastest cars and the best teams. Cars are a huge part of your sucess in Nascar, sure driver talent means something, but those guys are all on the same level for the most part. It's the cars that seperate them from race to race. Gordon gets the most out of his cars with talent. Bottomline Gordon is the most talented driver IN MY OPINION. Granted this opinion my and I'm not a Nascar scholar (I have some reading to do), but Little E had that race, the better DRIVER beat the BETTER car. VermontHunter
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Here's alittle more info that most of the Gordon fans don't like to hear or just plain like to deny, and that is in Jeff's rookie year and beyond Dale Sr. befriended Gordon and taught him alot about Winston Cup Racing, so it would be safe to say that Jeff also benitfitted from the Earnhradht name... What's it matter how Jr. got his start ??? It's how he performs on the track, and I would say he does pretty darn well if you ask me.... Now remember folks I'm a diehard Gordon Fan but facts are facts... Go #24 GO BABY GO !!!!.....
MichiganHuntr1
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Here is the stats on Jr. This is for anyone who says his daddy helped him. Daddy didnt help him win, or get any position. I said when I joined here last time that his dad did help him, but he didnt at all. I was stirring the pot. Im over that now. Here is the truth, If youre not a Jr. fan, please stop saying his daddy helped him. In a way, its running down the greatest driver ever, Dale Sr. So please stop! http://www.racing-reference.com/driver?id=earnhda02 I also get a kick how people run down Gordon, but wont even say why they dont like him. Is it because they dont know why?

spyderpancake
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner Matt ran only a few laps and was never a factor, he ended up either 41st or 42nd.
spyderpancake
Re: Gordon daytona 500 winner [ QUOTE ] Little E had that race, the better DRIVER beat the BETTER car. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously you don't know what you are talking about. Junior's car was not one of the fastest ones. As a matter of fact, he spent most of the day out of the top 10. At the end he came to the front with no teammates and took the lead for the first time with less than 10 laps to go. If you watched the race you have to admit that he did a great job just getting to the lead. I wanted him to win, but I was happy for him to get 3rd, because that was a lot better than the car ran all day. Gordon had a good car and made a good move at the end to win the race, and I congratulate him.
