Strut10
i'm sure the fact al gore made $5,000,000.00 from global warming last year has nothing to do with his "opinion". yea, right. Are you trying to tell me that global warming theory is just a ploy by the left to make money and levy control on the global economy??????????? :jaw: You consipracy theorist, you!!!! :ninja:
The Bug House
You are new here, maybe you should share with us what that experience is. Fair enough........I hold an MS/BS in Marine Science. I worked as a laboratory technologist and research assistant at a National Laboratory for several years. After grad school I was employed by the NYS DEC collecting Striped Bass census data. Biologist jobs being few and far between, only having seasonal work, mounting student loans, and a pregnant wife led me to look at healthcare for a better return on my educational investment. I then earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy. I'm currently the Clinical Director of the Cariopulmonary Dept. in a medium sized hospital. Climate changes have been occurring for a very long time, likely as long as this earth has been in existence, some scientific data depending on the scientist actually supports that. Actually would agree with what you say about misinformation being dangerous, much of science is flawed, beit for agenda driven cause or flawed data, it happens. Amazingly there are no shortage of folks out there who will jump on the bandwagon and blindly support someone or a cause who in the name of "science" has come up with a brilliant idea to pad their pocket. Support for a cause or idea in the name of science does not make it fact. . Agree with all, except the phrase "science is flawed". Science isn't flawed, sometimes mans execution of the scientific process is flawed. Mans interpretation / presentation of scientific findings can be flawed (perhaps for reasons you mentioned above). Science itself is pure and true. I get your point though, and its a good one. If you look at cyclic changes, the earth has had warm periods going back to well before there were ever any greenhouse gas emitting vehicles, factories, and etc. Far as the activity under the earth goes, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes from my understanding have remained pretty well constant, it is just more recognized at the current point in time as a result of more population and more media coverage getting that attention to people. Completely agree. Has happened before, and there was factual evidence or at least data to support those cooler temps being attributed as a result of the ash. 1816 "The summer that never came" I posted a link earlier. It's widely speculated that volcanic ash significantly contributed. Edited April 25, 2010 by The Bug House brain - finger asynchrony
The Bug House
Vermont must have changed lots since I grew up there. The far right today would have been considered moderate then, especially their views on fiscal responsibility. You can still catch fish though from the sounds of things and that's good. Mark The whole country has changed tremendously in my lifetime...and I'm not even 40 yet! lol! I guess being a contemporary moderate makes me a liberal of yesteryear. VT has a mixed political identity, the most liberal (pun fully intended) gun laws in the country, and among the first to make gay marriage lagal....go figure. I tend to have right leaning views when it comes to both fiscal and personal (civic, health, and family) accountibility however. Rest assured, the Lake Champlain and Conn. River fisheries are quite healthy! If I'm lucky enough to land a trophy Brown again this year I'll be sure to post a pic. Chasing those native brookies is a bit more challanging though! The Bug House
Science cant be proven if God didnt first put into motion His creation. I don't suscribe to the notion of creationism, but I respect your right to do so. I'd never hold another mans beliefs agianst him.
The Bug House
yes, it does. go re-read your opinions and you'll see what i'm saying. ruth is right on. I haven't stated any of my opinions as fact.

I haven't stated my opinion as fact. don't forget that some of these very same "scientists" predicted a new ice age starting back in the late 1960's, and al gore was leading that parade also. i'm sure the fact al gore made $5,000,000.00 from global warming last year has nothing to do with his "opinion". yea, right. I'm not sure where you get the $5 mil number from, do you have a link? Either way, thats capitalism man. His earnings are a direct reflection of what the market will bear. If people didn't want to hear what he had to say, he wouldn't be selling it to them. Al Gore is a catalyst for the political side of climate change. His political affiliation sways public opinion moreso than factual scientific findings. Unfortunately, agree or disagree with Al Gore, the truth doesn't matter to everyone. His earnings are a direct reflection of what the market will bear. I disagree. "Capitalism" would drive the industry side of "global warming" theory by the market's view of its merit and in the absence of governmental influence. "Fascism" would have government officials and politicians cooking the books, fabricating data, telling the world that the sky is falling, supressing dissent and making laws that benefit their own financial gains. Al Gore has made a career and a handsome living by using his political power to spread lies then sit back while the cash rolls in. Whether it's $500, $5000 or $5 million (and I don't think that would touch it), he's the lowest form of life and a con-artist. What was it that Lincoln said about fooling people all the time and half the time??

The Bug House
So you're a transplant to Vermont then? One of the thousands who loved how it was then came and changed it. mark Ah, theres that good 'ole Vermont xenophobia! I wonder if Arizonians feel the same about transplants to thier state? And no, I haven't changed a thing, you won't find any colored mulch in my gardens, I haven't put up 10 grand worth of fencing or built a 25000 sq ft mountian home that I keep heated, plowed, and the lights on for my one weekend a year visit. And my roof is just as rusty as any "real" VT'er. I do however mow my nieghbors lawn (see, he's got cancer and in failing health) as well as cut and split his wood for him. He claims to be a 9th generation VT'er, he told me once "you're a good guy.....for a flatlander". LOL!! Truth be told, I'm only part flatlander. Science isn't flawed, sometimes mans execution of the scientific process is flawed. Mans interpretation / presentation of scientific findings can be flawed (perhaps for reasons you mentioned above). Science itself is pure and true. I get your point though, and its a good one. Being that man and man alone are who use or misuse those findings(data) in the name of science I have to argue here that what is termed science is in fact flawed. Unless a person has the ability to test theories for themselves then they are blindly accepting what scientists present as fact. Sure there is a lot of factual basis and plenty of science and scientific data that is not flawed, however science or the art and findings of scientific study is not pure or always 100 percent accurate just for the reason you state. When it is man researching what we call science those findings that are collected will have potential for error.
m gardner
Just like I stated in my first post on this board. You didn't answer my question, how do native Arizonians feel about transplants? They like me just fine. They can't stand the illegals or most of the Californians. I lived on the western slope of Colorado too without incident and go back to hunt and they still know me. The folks in Missouri never minded me either. Probably because we have the same values and christian principles it doesn't disrupt or threaten them in any way. I like them just fine the way they are and they like me back.
