TN Bucknasty
Anyone ever tried planting bird seed like you'd buy at wal-mart? I bought a bag and it has some millet, sunflowers, milo, etc. seed. I'm going to plant a little 30yd by 5 yd strip between my clover and my soybeans just to see what it does. It may be something that the deer or the turkeys like.
dogdoc
yep---i've planted it several times. It won't have near the germination rate as fresh seed grown for planting it wil still give you a good plot. todd
Tominator
Yep, I've grown it. Seems to me the seed heads on the millet and sorghum are sorely lacking in seed production, but the sunflower usually does pretty good.
redkneck
Never have, but it dang sure grows under the bird feeders! I always thought if someone sold a bird seed that would not germinate they'd have a winner.
