redkneck
with good intentions. Although I was wide awake at 2.30 and got up to watch a little TV, I slipped out early to let my wife rest. Went to the firehouse to run the generators, check the chainsaws etc in advance of the storm. Put some new things on the truck, and then decided to sweep the floor. I knew for a fact I had let the back roll-up door (on the truck) up to get a saw out, so when I started the pumper and got a flashing red light and message indicating a door was open I thought nothing of it, just glanced at my side-views and proceded to pull out. WHAM! How in the crap did I not see the side door was open on the truck!?!? Ripped the door track down and the door C-Pearling on the front of the firehouse off and the tin. Four of us spent 6 hours banging and screwing everything back up. Luckily the pumper door was able to be repaired pretty good and will need a dab of touch up paint. Just going to be out a few hundred for the roll-up door guy's Saturday trip. I earned my status as the butt of many a future joke for sure, took a pretty good ribbing all day for that one. I'm pretty sure I'll never hang another door though.

Adjam5
You never learn like when it costs you money John. Could have been worse. Remind me never to let you drive my truck:p

Turkeygirl
LOL! Glad the truck was the only thing hurt! I pulled the car in the garage one time, my mom gets out, didn't close the passenger door. I backed out for some reason and well...I didn't rip the door off, but it sure didn't shut quite right after that!
ruttinbuc
What would life be without the lessons learned. Could have been a lot worse. Glad you took charge and took care of it, John.
Hoosierbuck
Some times you just can't get a break. You were getting set up to be the man, and the gremlins got you. It was not your fault. BTDT. HB
wtnhunt
Some times you just can't get a break. Yep, so very true. Gotta also agree on lessons learned that cost you money sticking with you.
