Diamond Archer 01
I would go on the opener rain or shine. If you have a blind you will pretty much stay dry.
Turkeygirl
I'd go...set-up by a field. They'll fly down and probably head towards fields or open woods.
Hoyt03
If I could only get off one day during the week I certainly wouldn't waste it to hunt in crappy weather conditions that may have the birds messed up, just bc it's the first day. Be patient and take off wed or thurs when the weather breaks and the birds will be fired up. Meanwhile all the guys who took off the first day and got skunked in the rain are sitting at work wishing they could have had off thursday. Rhino
If you can only get off 1 day, Thursday would be my pick.
PotashRLS
Turkeys love being out in the rain or at least around here they do. I am always mad when it rains.........that means I have to get my butt out of bed for sure to go hunting. Get a tent blind and thermos of coffee or something hot and relax!!! The only thing you kill at home is time!
WHISKEYSWAMP
I killed my biggest bird in the rain so it wouldn't stop me from going out.
Flintlock1776
Thanks for all your input. I have decided to wait until Thursday
dbHunterNY
Some know where birds are going to be so the rain making them quiet won't matter much, but I'd opt for Wed. or Thur.
RangerClay
Usually on really rainy days we will call for a little and maybe do some turkey drives.
maytom
I'd rather pass on the weekend opener, because I have to work, but mainly because everyone and there brother will be out there on a weekend opener. I took off during the week, next week. So I have 6 mornings in a row to be out there. less pressure during the week days!!
