NS whitetail
Anyone else see this ? I hope that if Montreal does lose tomorow night, that someone on the team takes Ovechkin out ........... he is the biggest showoff in hockey :crutch::crutch: http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2010/04/24/knuckle-puck-addressing-ovechkin-snow-gate/

muggs
That's pretty lame. He's still the best all around player I've ever seen though...period.

muggs
Yikes. You must have not watched Lemieux or Gretzky. You ever see Gretz lay a hit on anybody, let alone seek out physical contact? Ovie is a much better skater than those two ever were as well. Honestly, I can't think of any one player that would make me keep my head up while he's on the ice, and then intimidate me even more with his ability to make plays. Best all-around player I've ever seen, in my lifetime.

Best all-around player I've ever seen, in my lifetime. You ever see Ovechkin even come close to 150 points in a season? How about 200? How about win a championship of any kind....or even come close? How about win a big faceoff? Play defense deep in his own zone? Make his teammates around him better? No, to all those questions. Best offensive player you have ever seen I can buy that, but not best all around player. Crosby has him beat by miles in that category. Crosby has to have a big tought guy on his line to protect him. He never hits. Ovechcin isnt afraid to make a big hit. He can do it himself. But I dont know. I like Ovechcin way over crosby. Ya sure Crosby may be able to get more points then him but that doesnt make him a better player. Its not all about the points. Its if he can stand up when he needs it. Make a hit and not need someone to do it for him. But still there is many players that I like over them. Too me I like players like the Sedin brothers. Patrick Marleau. Prairiepredator
Ya Ovechkin is such a show off and I hate him because of that. I don't care if he is a a good hockey player or not, he is still an idiot!

And who's that big tough guy?? Pittsburgh has one "goon"....... Eric Godard. He palyed 45 games this past season and averaged less than 3 minutes of ice time per game. Sid played in 81 games and averages 20-21 minutes of ice time per game. Some protection by a big tough guy, eh?? I wouldn't get all warm and fuzzy over "Alex the idiot" until he leads his team (some leadership example he sets, BTW) to a Cup or even close. Let's see............ Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby............

But wutever. Neither of them are my favourite players. I really dont like either of them. But if I had to choose. It would be Ovechkin. My favourite player is no doubt Patrick Marleau. Watch some of those old Oiler games...it was much, much, MUCH more wide open back then. Players had a lot more time and space to do things. Nowadays that's just not there. 50 goals today, is probably the like scoring 90 back then, it really is. Rinks got smaller, guys got bigger and faster. It's actually amazing how little time and space they have out there and can still do what they do. The Crosby arguement is decent. I think if I were starting a team, I'd probably take him first, mostly for his leadership and grit...but come on dude, Ovie blows Sid out of the water from a talent standpoint. And how in the world can you say Ovie doesn't make guys around him better? He just led an otherwise mediocre team to the best record in the league. Sure, they're struggling with Montreal right now, but that's got more to do with that Halak guy playing out of his mind than anything else. btw- I met Scott Gomez's sister in Vegas a few weeks ago. She is hot.
camoman1
Im not fan of Ovie or Crosby. They are both talented players, personaly I think Ovechkin is the better overall player though. Alex is a clown and I just find Crosby to be annoying...and kind of a sissy haha! And that was a bonehead manuever by Ovechkin, snowing that kid. buckbuster11
Guerin and Kunitz play with Crosby. Neither of those 2 are even close to enforcers, I dont get that argument at all. Crosby has played with junk wingers all his career. So, Ovechkin hits people therefore he is way more talented? And muggs....mediocore team? You are out of your mind. Backstrom is top 5 in scoring. Semin is a 40 goal scorer. Green is the leagues best offensive defenseman. Knuble is one of the best forwards in front of the net in the league. He's 25+ goals every year. Washington is loaded even without Ovechkin. Not to mention all the guy does is shoot at all times, stand by the blueline waiting for an outlet pass in the defensive zone, and underachieve in just about every big game situation. :gun2:
NS whitetail
I wonder if Ovechkin has stopped crying yet hahahahahahahaha, I bet he regrets making fun of Halak and snowing that kid now ................

buckbuster11
Semin never scored a goal in all 7 games against the Habs Yeah......ironically Semin does not usually play on Ovechkins line while he was scoring 40 goals...he did play on Ovechkins line almost exclusively at the end of this series and had 0 goals. I rest my case muggsbow. :gunsmilie: BTW--I don't want to make it sound like I don't like Ovechkin. He and Crosby are 1 and 2 and Ovechkin is the best pure offensive talent in the game. However, there is just no way you can tell me, especially after watching last night that Ovechkin is a better all around player. No way.
