ladyluck
Tonight we went looking for Morel mushrooms. We found 2 Wal-Mart bags fulls :jaw:. Had some tonight with our burgers, they were delicious!!:eat: Hoping to look for more this weekend. Has anyone else been out looking? Turkeygirl
:-o!! Not fair...lol. I've been keeping my eyes out whenever I stumble onto some Ash trees, but no luck. Found 2 like 2 years ago....Maybe NY state isn't as good as other states, I dunno... they were so delicious!

Go back to the area you found them two years ago. They tend to grow in the same area year after year. I'm hoping the rain we got the other day will sprout some in my area. WHISKEYSWAMP
I've found around 110 so far this year... slow year compared to the last 2. Not too many people are having much luck around here either. I'll probably head out a few times through this weekend, then I'm thinking the season will be pretty much over for my area. wahaneebelly
The morel mushrooms are few and far between here too, and they're concidered a delicacy. To buy them is totally out of the question budget wise. Fortunately we like other mushrooms that are affordable, or even pickable in autumn, so we're saved. I sauteed up some morels and then stuffed them inside some pounded out boneless chicken thighs with country ham and some local piedmont cheese from everona dairy. Then i breaded the chicken with half ap flour and some pecans and shallow fried them/baked in oven, when the chicken came out of the oven i brushed it with truffle honey. Zambo
Had a great year up here in Central Minnesota. I find them on live red oaks. You need soil temps at 50 or above and rain.
