HUNTINGMAN
. I tried my hand at makeing a beer batter this afternoon. It wasn't to bad,I think I put to much on before I cooked it though. I put it on some large Texas gulf shrimp I found on sale at the grocery. Had a thinly sliced sirloin also with baked tater. Had one beer left so I didn't want to let it go to waste. Guest bowhunter56
what was your batter recipe. I always use 1 cup dry pancake flour, 1 egg, 1 cup of beer.
gzilla45
It's kind of hard to tell in the picture but it doesn't look to me like you put too much batter on. It is a thicker batter and is going to be heavier than most. Those sure do look good. It's been too long since I've had shrimp.
HUNTINGMAN
The recipe I used was fairly simple. I poured one whole beer into a large mixing bown, sifted 1 1/2 cups of flower in,wisking the whole tome. Added a tsp of salt, some black pepper and a large dash of hot sauce. Recipe called for a tsp of paprika but I did t have any,I then wisker in another 1/2 cup of flower slowly until I got the consistancy I wanted. I didn't take long to cook these, maybe a minute on each side once the oil got up to temp.
