redkneck
How tornadoes follow the same path over and over? I commute to work through a lot of old mom and pop dairy farms (none still milking these days ) and there's a guy whose hay barn was knocked down about 3 years ago. It was an old structure, probably buit in the 50's and tore up his old silo too. So he built a new one, all steel trusses about a quarter mile down the road to store his hay in. Last Saturday, it got hit too, knocked half of it to the ground. Is it just me or do you see the same paths for storms every few years? popgun
Actually, I had a good friend who seemed to be followed by the tornadoes. His house was destroyed one year and he rebuilt in the same location. The following year his new house was completely destroyed by another tornado. This time he rebuilt his home approximately 7 miles east of the first location. The following year a tornado destroyed his new home. He rebuilt on that location and never got hit again until his death about five years later. He always had a fraidy hole to hide in. Although we thought a tornado would eventually get him,it was finally a heart attack, (during beautiful weather) that took him. ....popgun
rhine16
John, the one that hit Yazoo City and then went throught the Weir- French Camp area, well that is a Tornado alley for sure. Three systems actually went right through that area Saturday. Dunno if you ever noticed while you were at State or not, but Starkville is sort of one also.... It catches the back end of these storms usually.
wtnhunt
Yep John, we have noticed that and talked about it several times with other people around here. They seem to follow through the bottoms here not too far from us and usually get within a few miles of us. Every time they get close to us they track either just to the north or just to the south of us and seem to stay in those bottoms and track across towards more populated areas. We have had damage in the past though from storms that produced tornadoes and also found debris all over our property from tornadoes that the debris came from who knows where. Closest one we ever had to us we could hear it in the bottoms just behind the house, but it was dark and we never did see it. Had large hail and wind damage from that storm. Jackson to the south of us has been hit several times in the last 10 years.

wtnhunt
I remember the last Jackson tornado. That was a bad one for sure. February 5th 2008, we just missed it. We took highway 45 right past Union University just a short while before it hit there. We picked up our new Durango from the dealership that day just about a mile south of I-40. Shaun_300
We never used to see tornados in this area but Ontario had at least 5 last year! One killed either one or a couple from Oklahoma, they were up in northwestern Ontario on a fishing trip and lost their lives to a tornado. There was one really close to hear in July, and a big one down in the Toronto area that caused a lot of destruction too. Think that climate change stuff is reality in some ways. Ravin R10 man
Tornados tend to follow certian land terrains. The Siren Wi. tornado dropped cancelled checks and personal papers way up here over 100 miles away!

dbHunterNY
not many around here but we've got some good ones. years ago when went through some townships and leveled everything in the path it took. it was crazy to drive by the path it made through the woods and see things look like a clear cut. just over the hill it picked a relatives concrete silo up and dropped it on his free stall dairy barn with cows in it! there is still the tin wrapped and cut halfway through trees 20 ft up several hundred yards away. most scary of all it took the walls of one whole side of his house off, that was just across the road from the barn. from the road you could see into their whole bedroom and house. it looked like a big doll house. very scary and eye opening.
