A quote from my local Craigslist,

I have an evolution compound bow im looking to get rid of.. It just got all set up and my husband deployed so its set up for anyone. its set at 65lb pull.. It comes with the brand new sight thats on it arrows release deer call two targets and more... asking $650 obo.. I'm leaving thursday morning to head back home to MO and would like it gone by Weds afternoon.. I plan on loading everything up by 4 so would like it gone before that time.

You can call me at ###-###-####

I might be wrong, but I'll bet you a dozen donuts that this poor soldier who is off fighting for us is going to come home to find his bow missing. $650 would just be about the right price for MO plane tickets. Living near Fort Drum I see stuff like this all the time. I feel bad for this guy. icon9.gif

You could be right Joe, but then who knows. Kinda hate to make assumptions about situations for our men and women serving or their families. Could be quite possible that her husband told her to sell the stuff with the expectation of not being home to hunt for a while, you just never know.

Guess what is bothering me is that we do still have soldiers being deployed to the sandbox when Obama promised his voters that he would bring all our troops home under a timeline of what was it, 18 months???

God Bless the men and women serving this country and their families.

I hope you are right. But when you live up here, this close to base, you see things that shock you. Things that the rest of the world has no clue. If I was young and in the military, I would NEVER get married.

I've been thinking about enlisting after i'm done with college next year and that's what i've heard a lot of people say. It's way easier to join if you don't have a family starting or any ties to someone back home. That's why it would be a good time for me to join cuz i don't have a girlfriend or anybody else that i would have to be away from for long periods of time.

That being said, i still feel bad for this poor guy who's about to lose his bow. If i came home and heard my girlfriend or wife sold my bow, i'd turn right around and put a for sale sign on her. Somebody should buy this man's bow and return it to him when he comes back. It's the least we could do to thank him for what he's doing for this great country of ours.

That would be a very nice gesture on your part. I am sure he would appreciate it.

I am sure it happens where the spouse sells something of the person that is deployed without their knowledge. But I imagine a lot of times, it is agreed on that items need to be sold to help the family through this time when their bread earner is serving our country. Who is to say which this is. Sounds like this lady may be having a hard time making ends meet and is going home to live with parents till times get better.

Agreed. It was probably a decision they both made and agreed upon.

Not to be funny-but making ends meet was alot easier when I was deployed- no taxes and other additives such as combat pay and family separation. When you can't make ends meet with that much extra ching-someone is blowing it needlessly-we paid off all of our debt, paid for an all inclusive 2 week honeymoon, and started a nice nest egg towards my retirement ranch...Although, shortening the rant-their particular situation is totally hypothetic-maybe he is selling that one to pay for one of the Bowtech program deals or Bears military deal? Hopefully its not what we all may assume-which makes a tail out of you and me..

-yeah, hard to say what the real story is on that...

-but, I agree, it sure does sound wierd...

??

-I like bowhuntMN idea of buying it , then offering to get it back to the guy...

-if it is all legit, you would still have a great bow, out of the situation...

i did that for a neighbor once.. Pawned his guns... i bought them and gave them back for x mas... the pawn owner called me three days later... he was pawning them again... so now i let folks make there own minds up...
