redkneck
When you turn the wheels? Driving the parents Lexus last two weeks after the silverado died. I think my crack-headed brother called himself replacing it a while back. Definitely sounds like the spring gets to a certain point and pops or something. Shaun_300
Upper strut bearings are seized, the spring will wind out or in depending which way you're turning and eventually the pressure will cause the strut bearing to snap to where it's supposed to be. The BUNGGG sound you hear is the coil spring returning to regular flex. Better get them changed soon or the spring will break in two. I've seen many go through tires when they break. Our Cavalier's and Sunfire's are HORRIBLE for strut mounts/bearings.
Goinghuntin
Our Cavalier's and Sunfire's are HORRIBLE for strut mounts/bearings. Would the mid-90's Grand Am's have that same problem then too? My sister drives a '94 and I've suspected something wrong with the strut for a while now. Nathan
Shaun_300
Yep, Grand Am's are bad for them too.
Goinghuntin
I thought so. I used to drive a '93 Grand Am, one heck of a car :ninja: But towards the end of my ownership of the vehicle the strut started to go THUNK over bumps every time Nathan
Strut10
Once at the beach, I saw a thong go strut. But I've never heard a strut go "THONGGGGG!!!"

Tominator
What makes a strut go thong? Bring a .22 to an OTPG event and watch Don go THONGGGGG!
Strut10
What makes a strut go thong? Bring a .22 to an OTPG event and watch Don go THONGGGGG! Sounds like a cool experiment, Chris. Guess you need to bring a .22 to our next meet-up and test your hypothesis.
