Turkeygirl
Land around here has been dead quiet in the evenings. Went up tonight, no gobble to owl hoots. One hen on the trail cam...Going to go to the state land in the morning and hope I hear something...At least then I know where to start. Doesn't help around home when someone intentionally messes up your area the day before the season. Hope to report something tomorrow. Looks like my turkey season may be limited due to work.... RTF
Birds are gobbling down here. More birds this season then the last few for sure. Good luck Ruth.

WHISKEYSWAMP
It's been quiet behind my house this season... I've only heard two gobbles since season opened. I'm heading where I shot my opening day bird this weekend to help the landowners try to get one. I only take one bird off of any property I hunt so I haven't been back... hopefully I can get one worked up for someone.
Goinghuntin
It's been pretty similar to what you've been experiencing here in Iowa Ruth. I've been out two weeks, and only got within range of a bird once Nathan
woolybear
Sounds like you've been hunting my woods. Not much happening here after the opener. Seeing quite a few lone hens lately and even they are quiet.
Turkeygirl
Sounds like you've been hunting my woods. Not much happening here after the opener. Seeing quite a few lone hens lately and even they are quiet. Yup, seen lone hens around home as well. Tried state land this AM...overcast but heard one bird sound off, a little bit aways away. Decided to head down towards where I heard him, unsure if he was on the state land on my side of the road of private land the other side. Well Found where he may have been...nice woods so may go back in there next time out, Thursday
Flintlock1776
Maybe things will pick up. Here they were gobbling heavy on Friday & Saturday
RTF
I had some gobbling yesterday morning, but the bird was a no show. Rain came in mid morning. Thank god for the blind. Will be out first thing this morning.
Ohiobucks
Hunted morning and evening yesterday, no gobbles. One hen right at sunset came in to find the hen she heard, she was quiet as a mouse. Fly up right above me, and that was it. Very discouraging......
Rhino
Hang in there...afternoon gobbling is usually poor compared to early morning roost gobbling. Also, remember...birds tend to gobble a lot more during high barometric pressure days compared to low pressure.
Ethan Givan
Afternoon gobbling has been really slow here lately. Ive been out several nights to roost birds and I heard absolutely nothing. Then I would go back in the morning to the same area and here them gobbling every where. If you go out and listen in the mornings I bet you will hear something. LifeNRA
Ill tell ya, last Friday dad and I went out to see if we could roost one the day before the season opened. Didn't hear a thing! I was almost not going to go the next day! But I am glad I did! I heard more gobbling than ever! They were there the night before, just being quite. Just because you don't hear anything, doesn't mean they are not around!
