redkneck
OK, so it looks kinda junkie, but blows cold air and gets 32 MPG with 156K on the clock. Not a bad deal for $800 I don't suppose At any rate it buys me enough time to go through my Z71 and get bearings and the rear diff replaced before Oct 1st
Shaun_300
The corolla isn't a bad little beater car. Pretty tough, good fuel mileage and not fast enough to get you in trouble.
PA_Spike_King
Can't complain there John, I would have done the same thing.

redkneck
I got it up to about 105, I think that took about 4 minutes to get there

I'm looking to replace my beater 91 escort. It has 253k+ and throws almost no heat. In winters coldest days, my humid breath freezes on the inside of the windows. Ever had to scrape the ice off the inside of your car windows?:jaw: I don't want to part with the thing cause it still gets 35mpg in the winter and 38-40mpg in the summer. When it rains, the road wash makes my carpet wet :jaw: I think I just talked myself into getting a different one. Thanks a bunch John!!! Shaun_300
I got it up to about 105, I think that took about 4 minutes to get there LOL! Mom had a 94 Corolla when I first got my licence. I got the pleasure of driving it unless dad was nice and let me drive his Chrysler 300M Special at the time. It was automatic, it'd go 160km/h wide open which is 100mph. If I hit the O/D off switch it'd climb up to 175km/h which is 110mph, like you said though, took a while to get up there.
Goinghuntin
I got it up to about 105, I think that took about 4 minutes to get there I haven't had my GMC Jimmy above 70 yet my but old Grand Am would do 110mph at 3500 RPM. I still had another 2000 to go :jaw: Nathan
redkneck
I think my Z71 hits the 96-97 mark before the pcm starts to limit it.

Ok, maybe I'm showing my stupidity, but why the better fuel mileage in the summer?
PotashRLS
Ok, maybe I'm showing my stupidity, but why the better fuel mileage in the summer? Fuels are blended differently up here for summer and winter driving.
Shaun_300
Most cars have speed limiters on them, usually based on the tires on the vehicle. GM trucks it's around 98mph, I had a 03 Cavalier that was 105mph. Gotta watch it with tires, if they get going faster than they're supposed to they'll explode in some cases. Some vehicles can have the tune modified in the PCM, like my truck for example. I believe the speed limiter on it now is 160 or 170mph. I'll have speed rated tires on it with upgraded brakes. I'll still never even come close to that speed unless I'm on an airstrip or at the track. I doubt it'll ever see over 120mph. Fuels are blended differently up here for summer and winter driving. Yup! We need to in the northern US and Canada. Car wouldn't run on summer fuel in the winter time.
redkneck
I totally forgot about the change in the blends up there in winter.
